78The long awaited RPG by the talented team of Obsidian is finally out. People have been craving a first person fantasy RPG for a time and I loved the world and setting that was presented to me here. We play as a Godlike who has been sent out on a quest to stop a blight from spreading across the nation. Along the way we will meet many fascinating characters and will have to solve multiple quests by making different choices. At first glance what stands out is how beautiful, vibrant and colorful the world is. Especially the first zone with the gorgeous city of Paradis is such a joy to explore. And after that you also get to explore other biomes like deserts, snowfields and a volcano. The combat feels smooth and responsive with a surprising amount of weapon variety to try out. There are even rifles in the game that feel great to use. Probably the weakest part for me is how you could still feel the remnants that this originally was a multiplayer game. Many of the enemies just randomly stand in the wilderness and that reminded me how mobs are spawned in games that are MMOs. This meant that every 30 seconds or so of exploring you would run into a new horde of bad guys rather than being able to explore. Nevertheless Avowed is a solid RPG for those seeking a new adeventure to depart on with plenty of options for customization and play styles.
