Bayonetta | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
71From time to time I get these urges to play a whole bunch of games from a certain genre and this time it were hack 'n slash games. I have played titles like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden and God of War in the past, but never experienced Bayonetta. Now I know it was praised by all and therefore I was very excited to try it out for the first time.
The game takes the traditional formula from Devil May Cry, but increases the spectacle of the combat to a ridiculous height. We play as the witch Bayonetta who is tasked with hunting down the Angels which have been wonderfully designed. You go from level to level and getting to fight these creatures in small arenas while performing dozens of awesome looking combos. And despite the spectacle that is happening on screen, you always feel like you are in control and that it's your input that made all that happen.
There are also plenty of secrets to find like upgrades to your health, bonus missions and more.
A few levels even change up the gameplay entirely by having you ride a motorcycle or an airship. The game has a few things that could be improved on like cheap quick time events that can result in an instant game over. I can tell you that I already have played and completed Bayonetta 2 as well and that game is an improvement over this first game in every way. Bayonetta 2 is perfection, but Bayonetta 1 is still awesome and should be enjoyed by fans of the genre hack 'n slash.
