Super Mario Galaxy | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
Today the latest Nintendo Direct was aired and one of the first announcements was that Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are coming to the Switch! I recorded the first Super Mario Galaxy a while back as I bought the Mario 3D All Stars pack. Since we are less than a month away from Mario Galaxy 2, I thought it would be a great time to archive the first one.
I have never played the sequel, so I am very excited to see what crazy new challenges the developers have in store for me. Galaxy is a fan favorite amongst many and is considered the best 3D Mario game and after having completed it I tend to agree.
Because the game takes place in space, the developers have absolutely no rules that they have to abide by and can unleash their creative spirits to the fullest potential. You will be jumping, flying, racing and swimming all around so many exciting and varied locations. Because you often move around on small planets or stars, it never gets too repetitive or boring. Every 5 minutes something new happens and you are introduced to a new area, a new gameplay mechanic or new character that is interesting.
I love Mario Sunshine because of the vibe, but that game is a clear indication where the developers did have to abide by some rules. Since it all takes place on a tropical island, there are no snow levels in that game. But Mario Galaxy had forest planets, rock planets, fire planets, ice planets, tropical planets and more. Movement is tight and just hearing the announcement makes me want to revisit this game again. Probably my least favorite aspect of the game is the wiggling of the remote to collect stars. I have never been a big fan of motion controls and it does not do a whole lot for me either in this game.
