Beetle PSX - CPU Overclocking - Locked 30fps in Doom PSX
While the PSX version of Doom is great, it's undeniable that some of the nostalgia might cloud your recollection of the game's performance. See for instance here level 3 of Doom 2 and how it performs in non-overclocked mode. Certain areas drop down to as low as 14 or 11fps, and it never quite settles at a stable 30fps all throughout this level.
This level is not even one of the worst offenders in that regard, with one of the levels most notorious for bad framerates being Perfect Hatred UV.
In this video, we show you how it looks like without CPU Overclocking, and then we bump CPU overclocking up to 320% and show you how it manages to make Doom stay at a locked 30fps.
My specs:
Intel Core i7 7700k
16GB RAM
Titan XP
CPU frequency scaling (overclock): 320%
GTE overclock: off
GPU rasterizer overclock: 1x(native)
