【Bid Adieu To Your Ennui】
Hey friends! Remember me? I still exist! I hope you do too!
Sorry it's been so long... it's been a weird season for me. If you listen to the video you know what I'm saying -- the alluring Sands of Nothingness that draw me deeper with their siren song and all that. It's apparently one of my major flaws -- a willingness to indulge in nothing as much as my life will let me. Who knew?
But I'm past that now! I think half a year is enough tribute to give to this demon, and I'm not letting it get another piece of my soul. I have a plan that involves walking around my block and eating vitamins every morning and putting aside a little time every day to focus on what I really care about, and that is my creative hobbies, first and foremost YouTube.
I was afraid at first it was gonna be weird to come back and start making videos again, but I don't know why I thought that. I think this same thing every time I take more than a week away, something along the lines of "I wonder if I'll still be able to do this." The answer is invariably the same -- I love making videos, and as soon as I give it a shot again, I'm straight up addicted to it and can't wait to do more. I'm alive again friends, and it feels great!
So, here's the plan going forward friend. We're getting back to ROM Hack Romps. We're getting back to Mega Maker Showcase. We're getting back to the Squiggy Seven. And we're getting back to some of the lesser-published series like Squiggy Glitches and Squiggy's Abandonware Adventures. I got a schedule set up for myself, I got some games picked out for the non-submission series, and I'm ready to roll!
I'm going to try to stick to a strict schedule of Tuesdays and Fridays, every single one, until at least the end of the year. I'm also going to try and add additional videos on Sunday that don't flow with our normal series, but only occasionally when I have the extra time for them.
That's not that hard, right? I think when setting goals it's important to make them feel achievable, or they're much easier to cast off when you start getting behind. So, a simple month and a half of keeping to a two-video-per-week schedule is where we're gonna start this Squiggs 2.0 revolution. (Random shoutout to Cyanesque111 for the idea behind version numbers in channel reboots :P).
Anyways, I'm mostly just excited to see who's still around and spending a completely unhealthy amount of time on YouTube lately like I have been, so if it's been a while friends, please sound off in the comments! I'd really love to hear what you've all been up to, if you have any new cool hobbies or interests, or maybe some series or music or any sort of way to kill the infinite free time I've been forcefully granted, haha. I think I've watched everything interesting on Netflix, Hulu and YouTube combined at this point, so I'm dying for something new. What's that been for you? Let me know!
Tuesday is our next release, and planned on the docket is a ROM Hack Romp video. I can't kick it off any other way! I have one picked out that should be short enough for one episode hopefully, and if it is, after that on Friday we will have a Mega Man Maker! Not sure where I'll go from there, but having a week plan is more planning than I've ever done for this channel so I'm proud of what we've got either way.
Cheers friends! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope to talk to you all soon!!
💙 Squiggs
---[ Squiggy's Music Corner ]---------------
Since I don't have anything to throw in the bottom of this video, seeing as it's not a series, I figured I'd start up a new segment -- Squiggy's Music Corner! I've gotten some amazing music suggestions from people in the comments in the past (and I'm always open for more!), so i figure it's time to give back a little.
Today's song is "Lets Have A Kiki" by The Scissor Sisters. It's a bit of a weird one as a first installment, and I wouldn't say it's the most representative of my overall tastes, but I had to go for it simply for the line "bid adieu to your ennui", which I used for the title of this video, To "bid adieu " means to say goodbye, and "ennui" is such a perfect description of what I've been feeling lately that I have to give you the full Oxford Dictionary definition:
- a feeling of listlessness and dissatisfaction arising from a lack of occupation or excitement.
Can't think of something that sums up my feelings for the current moment better, haha. And beyond that, it's a great dance song that's just a lot of fun to listen to and watch (the dance number is almost as great as the song). I heard it way back in high school and it always stuck with me for some reason.
If you're having a bad day, I suggest watching the music video and concentrating on the tambourine shaker to the right. If you can absorb 1/1000th of the pure positive energy he's emitting, your day should be better already. Hope you enjoy friends!
