BioShock 2 Walkthrough Part 1: Adonis Luxury Resort (INTRO)
2Welcome back to my channel, dear gamers. 2024 has officially began which means the return of our regular programming with many classic and more recent gaming gems in the pipeline to make this year's content lineup great. To start us off, we'll dive back into the depths of the Atlantic ocean and visit everyone's favorite failed utopia, Rapture as we continue to make our way through BioShock series in BioShock 2 and its story DLC, Minerva's Den so strap in and enjoy the gameplay.
Please note that i'm playing this game using mouse and keyboard. Since i'm not so well-versed in such control style, gameplay may seem a bit sluggish and/or uncertain so i'd like to apologize in advance. With that out of the way, enjoy the game.
About Game: BioShock 2 is 2010 First-Person Shooter with RPG and Survival Horror elements developed by 2K Marin and published by 2K Games originally for PCs, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 while remastered version of the game for modern PCs and eighth-generation consoles was developed by Blind Squirrel Games and released in 2016 as part of Bioshock Collection encompassing all three main entries of BioShock series and their DLCs. Upon release, BioShock 2 was met with positive reception although it wasn't as universal as its predecessor, 2007's BioShock since critics of the time considered the game to be too similar to its predecessor while certain gameplay improvements were praised. In total, BioShock 2, while not as critically successful as its predecessor, was a total financial success, having sold over 3 million copies within a month of its release and retrospective reviews of the game have been far more favorable towards it, with some even going as far as to call it the best game in the series. Due to this success, third and final game in the series, BioShock: Infinite was released in 2013.
Story of the game is a direct sequel to the first BioShock, taking place in the year 1968 and follows Subject Delta, a Big Daddy from "Alpha Series" line of prototype Big Daddies initially created in late 1950s in order to protect Little Sisters as they gathered ADAM from its deceased users once addiction to the substance within an underwater city of Rapture started to rise exponentially. After being killed at the onset of the civil unrest in Rapture on New Year's Eve of 1958 and having his assigned Little Sister named Eleanor taken away, Delta suddenly wakes up a decade later with a new mission; Find now adult Eleanor who is still trapped in decaying remains of Rapture and save her from a cult-like organization which took control of the city.
On December 31st, 1958, Delta and 7-year old Eleanor arrived to Adonis Luxury Resort, a high-class resort and spa in Olympus Heights, Rapture in order to do their ADAM gathering rounds during the resort's New Years' celebrations. However, after the two are briefly separated, Eleanor is surrounded by several Splicers who attack her, ostensibly in order to try and kill her for her ADAM. Rushing to her aid, Delta proceeds to fight off the Splicers, only to end up hit with a plasmid which hypnotizes him, making him unable to fight. As Delta is immobilized, it is revealed that Splicers were brought to the spa by Sophia Lamb, Rapture's leading psychologist and Eleanor's mother who, enraged at the fact that her daughter was transformed into a Little Sister and bonded to Delta, planned out Splicer attack as a pre-text to kidnapping Eleanor in order to restore her humanity and kill Delta, proceeding to do the latter by giving hypnotized Delta a handgun and ordering him to shoot himself through the head, much to Eleanor's horror.
Approxomately a decade later, in 1968, Delta suddenly wakes up to the sound of someone attempting to contact him via his suit's built-in radio and upon regaining his bearings, realizes that he is still in Adonis Luxury Resort but also that the building is dark, covered in overgrown coral and rapidly flooding. As he proceeds through the resort, Delta gradually realizes that since his suicide a decade prior, Rapture has fallen into complete anarchy and decay with the city's residents, most of whom became severe ADAM addicts and Splicers, fighting to survive in the ruined city which was taken over by Sophia Lamb who became a leader of the cult-like organization known as Rapture Family. Eventually, Delta manages to establish contact with a woman who contacted him as he woke up, discovering that she is a researcher named Brigid Tenenbaum who returned to Rapture in order to rescue remaining Little Sisters, who were created from the girls kidnapped from the surface as those who grew up became Big Sisters, dangerous protectors loyal to Sophia Lamb and her cult. After surviving an attack from one of Big Sisters in the resort's main lobby and being flushed into the sea surrounding the city, Delta is urged to go to the nearby Atlantic Express station in order to meet Tenenbaum face-to-face...
