Here we have put some footage of the PS4 Tearaway Unfolded demo through our frame rate analysis tools. The game generally runs at 60fps with a few dips below that into the 50s. Adaptive vsync seems to be engaged with tearing occasionally creeping in when a frame goes over budget. Tearing is seemingly confined to the very top of the frame.
We see some large frame time spikes in the video that can sometimes breach 100ms. During gameplay these can definitely be felt, although they do seem to only occur in fairly innocuous places.
Some objects in the game animate at a lower frame rate than the rest of the game. This is probably an artistic choice and not a bug.
During analysis we found evidence that the game can occasionally run at greater than 60fps. As we saw a torn frame that didn't match the previous frame. Meaning that two new unique frames were introduced in one screen refresh. If you see any tearing that isn't picked up by our analysis tools in this video then that is likely the cause, as our analysis tools can not at this time detect these torn frames.
The Tearaway Unfolded demo on PS4 runs at a native resolution of 1920x1080.
As always, please watch in HD (preferably 1080p) and 60fps for the best viewing experience.
