You all have probably heard me talk a bit about game aesthetics. I'm generally a bit meh on the whole thing, but I've noticed a trend in the last few years of really having some beautiful looking games. While it's not a big deal for me, I know a lot of people do care, particularly new folks. Let's dive in!

Game aesthetics, for me, includes several aspects - the overall look, the mis/matching of the look to the theme, component quality and appearance, and general appeal. While I'm not one to scoff at a simple, relatively cheap games, I understand the draw of beautiful colors, illustrations, and the like. Here, I wanted to discuss the aspects of aesthetics that I see as important, how some games have leaned to becoming generally more appealing in recent years, and particularly how that can bring in newer players to the hobby.
