Top 5 Depressing Board Games
18Still in the midst of a pandemic, I'm sure a lot of folks have been feeling down. As I've mentioned in a few of my COVID-19 videos, I have no desire to make fun or lessen the problems people are facing, but we can have some fun. Games can be sad, but hopefull :D .
As we've seen a lot across games, as well as my own videos, you all know I love seeing solid themes in games. There's a lot of variety, and today I wanted to get into something that's a bit on the other side. COVID is spreading and it still sucks, and there are some games that share a similar concept in that they're a bit depressing. Sad themes are pervasive in some genres, such as wargames, but it's not bad to have something meant to be socially/environmentally/economically bad.
It's important to try and look at things through a bit of a different lens, though. While a game might be depressing on its surface, it's important to looker deeper into what's going on within the game - how a relatively sad theme is addresses and "repaired". In this video, I talk about some of my favorite games which, on the surface, are rather saddening, but are, in actuality, a bit deeper down. Particularly in the COVID era, I think it's important to try and keep a decent mindset.
