Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

The latest version of the mod can always be found here: http://jeffludwig.com/bof2/download.php

As always, do your own search for the ROM you need.

Time to hop into the final dungeon. Got my last bit of off screen grinding done to prepare my main party for this very long dungeon. My usual stars (Rand, Nina) join Ryu, both being fused with shamans. Rand gets his standard fire & earth shamans for maximum tail kicking while Nina gets wind & devil shamans. She doesn't get her alternate form this way, but she does get a massive boost to her speed.

As for the last person to take along, I could have taken just about anyone, but I felt it was time for Jean to realize his destiny and fuse with the water & holy shamans to become a frog knight...with a mohawk. Seriously can't get cooler than that, heh.

With this fusion, Jean gets defense on par with a fused Rand and quite acceptable attack power too thanks to the Hearts Rapier he has when I show off my main team's stats before going in. That weapon is actually the super rare item the N. Riders drop. Boy was I happy when I saw that.

In any case, Jean's new form also gives him a rather useful new unique skill, Chop. Similar to devil kitty Katt's Charge, Jean uses his first turn to charge up. On the next turn, he does an attack that will either fail...or hit all enemies for 999 damage. The success rate for this is actually pretty good, making this a nice way to really chew into high hp enemies.

Anyways, Infinity is so huge it's split up into two separate dungeons, each one being quite long and filled with unique monsters in each half.

For enemies in the first half...BigHands have high hp and may use 2x Hit randomly (and like to get blown up by Nina's Death spell), Ifeleets have Fire Breath & Inferno, and G.Riders can use Death.

Now for the dungeon...not much to the first floor besides making sure to nab that Sacred Bracelet from the chest. Coupled with the two I have already (One I picked up in my most recent bout of off screen leveling), almost everyone can be immune to status effects of all kinds except for instant death.

Second floor, you'll come across poles for Sten to swing across. All it leads to is a Buster Bow which, if you have access to the Death Bow from Baretta's shop, is inferior to it. You'll also come across a fork with a doorway to your north, stairs to your south, and a path going west.

If you go west, you'll find a Nature Whip for Spar in a chest. North through the doorway leads to stairs going down and a Shining Helm in a chest. If you head south from that fork and take the stairs down, you can go north to claim a StamUp from a chest (Of course I didn't notice this until I was halfway through the room and had to backtrack).

Now, head to the stairs going down next to the Shining Helm. Head south down a couple flights of steps, then follow the path around until you go down a 3rd flight of steps. Head directly south to reach a StrUp in a chest, then take the 4th flight of steps to stairs leading down to the next level.

On the 4th floor, go north to a fork, then east to a pair of chests (Heroic Armor, Mother Robe), then follow the long path west to a Masamune in a chest. Back to the stairs going up to head south of them now down a small flight of steps. Head west and follow the winding path to the next set of stairs going down a level.

After going down a total of six small floors, you should be on another one of those floors with a loopy background like it was early in the dungeon. Heading straight south leads to junky equipment I have already so I ignore it and head east from the stairs until I reach a fork going north or south. North leads to an Immortal Ring, the best ring in the game. Head directly south from there as best as you can to reach a Shadow Dagger.

From that chest, go west until you can find a way to go southeast. This should lead to a Protect Bracelet. Head east from it and you'll find the path to be fairly linear overall to the end of the first half of the final dungeon. Make sure to snag the Final Knuckles from a chest as they are the best weapon for Rand attack power wise (Even though I keep the Kaiser Knuckles on him to deal with spirit enemies easier and switch to the Final Knuckles for bosses).

More next time!
