Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

The latest version of the mod can always be found here: http://jeffludwig.com/bof2/download.php

As always, do your own search for the ROM you need.

Off screen shenanigans...everyone not named Ryu, Rand, Nina, or Spar got boosted to lv32. Bleu, in the process of helping out with the leveling up process, hit lv40, netting useful spells like Warp, Blizzard, Death, and Inferno in the process.

Before going to SkyTower, a visit to Barose. Before speaking with him, you need to make sure whomever you have talking to him at 1 hp & 0 ap like my Rand.

To get a 1 hp character, you can get them killed in battle, then go to a dragon statue to change up your party and they'll be back with 1 hp. Poison works too.

Anyways, with Barose, he'll ask you two questions to which you should respond with yes to, then ask if you want to learn a spell. The spell he teaches the person who talked to him is based on his mood. If the gem in the corner is flashing multiple colors, then he will teach the very good Sirocco spell.

The catch with Barose...he will only teach four people a spell. With that in mind, the others besides Rand to get Sirocco off screen were Nina, Spar, and Jean.

Rand actually learns this naturally at lv42, but that's a level you're unlikely to reach until you're exploring the final dungeon. This means he gets to kick tail with either his fists or a nuke 12 levels earlier then he'd naturally get it.

Now, with that out of the way...to SkyTower. The easiest way to reach it is to warp to Capitan, go to the southern beach to summon Grandpa, then ride a bit to the south. SkyTower is in the water so just ram into it.

Inside, head down the steps and talk to the fish man by the hole. He'll mention that something in the tower has gone haywire, confirming what the man in the foggy valley said earlier. He'll let you go down into the tower to check it out.

The gimmick to this place is that you have a three minute timer which ticks down as you explore in the watery rooms as well as in battle, but it ticks down much slower in the latter case. If the timer runs out, you're brought back up to that first fish man minus have your current zenny. Basically, a game over.

To refresh the timer, simply find a room without water and your timer will reset to three minutes in the next watery room you step into.

As for enemies. most are pretty pathetics, but Amonicas get a mention because they can use Freeze and are immune to Sirocco's destructive damage output.

Starting out in the first watery room, go east, then run against the rapids (Which will push you back in the direction the rapids are going if you change your lane). Head north into a room with no water (somehow, given that the door is open and there's water right outside)) and a merchant. Some decent equipment here which, given my massive funds right now, isn't a problem to pick up.

Exit the room and go east. It's pretty linear, but take note there are no rooms to refill on air on this path aside from the merchant's room, hence the reason I have a team full of Sirocco users + Ryu so I can blow up everything not named Amonica. Once you find two chests with a Tidal Sword (Good weapon for Ryu or Jean) and the Spirit Robe, return to the first watery room.

Head west into the next room, then go through the southern door to nab a chest with 1000 zenny, then back into the last room to take the northern door. Follow the path while grabbing a GutsUp from a chest along the way until you find a room with rapids and a staircase going up in the middle. You'll need to get on the rapid flowing south right next to the stairs to make it there.

Once you're up the stairs, follow the staircases that keep going up while nabbing a Frozen Armor, Cryo Shield, and Norse Dagger from chests along the way.

At the top is the culprit of the fog, the wind shaman Spoor. Looks like she was doing it because she was bored. Eh, whatever, it's another shaman for fusion options. Get yourself out of SkyTower now and head back to the great wise tree by Whale Cape and head south across the bridge and through the fog valley.

That's the good news. The bad news? Gallops & B. Ogres, two enemies you can run into from the time you step on that bridge until you exit the valley. Both enemies have very high physical defense, lots of hp, and hit HARD. We're talking at least 150+ damage to a single target. Did I mention both enemies have Might to buff their attack?

On the plus side, tons of exp from these enemies and they're slower than Rand.

After exiting the valley, head south to FarmTown.

I end up warping back to Township after unlocking FarmTown to do some things at the start of the next video.
