Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

Boss time against the man in the machine & three Guardeyes.

Now, if you wanted to, you could kill the man pretty easily. You don't want to do that though as he needs to survive if you want to see the best ending of the game. That means killing the Guardeyes.

Each Guardeye does one move and one move only. Top right uses HealWind, bottom center uses Flame, top left uses Freeze. On occassion, the man's turn gets used to cast Blizzard thanks to the Guardeyes. This caught me off guard as I was not expecting him to go before Nina, but thankfully nobody died.

Now, what you need to do is use attacks that hit a single target. Physicals are fine, but you'll want to do maybe two attacks on a single eye in your first attack spree on them, then let one person finish that eye off while the rest work on the other two. Rinse & repeat the process until all three eyes are gone.

After the battle, the man is freed from the machine, but this also causes the entire building to start shaking. He warps everyone out to your carpenter's house in Township.

Then, the bomb is dropped...he's Ganer, the guy Ryu grew up with as a child. He then explains what happened when kid Ryu was having a dream by his dragon mother. It basically amounted to the failure memory erasing boss doing better work in cutscenes than as an actual enemy that had to die.

Ganer then mentions Habaruku has to be stopped as he may very well pull the same kind of plan with other people as he did with Ganer himself.

Basically, our next destination is Gate. Before that though, there's lots of things to do.

First off, go and warp to FarmTown and check out the fields behind Rand's house. If you donated to the shrine at Namanda 20 times, you'll find the earth shaman, Solo, who will join your cause.

Secondly, head back to Bando and go to the room with the two arrows that moved a wall. Ignore them and just enter the first room you see down here to find the holy shaman, Seny. She too will join the fusion party.

Know what this means? Tons of new fusion possibilities! Everyone should now be able to get their alternate forms with the exception of Katt who needs the final shaman to access hers and Spar who also needs the final shaman for one of his other forms.

Back at Township, go to Baretta's store. She has upgraded her stock for the final time, but has some of the best equipment available in any store now. Very expensive though.

The Kaiser Knuckles from the store get mention because they are holy elemental, something not seen since the Silver Dagger. Considering they go to my man with the highest attack power right now...yes, it does mean Rand's in business.

...Wait, scratch that. Fuse him with the earth shaman and either the fire, water, or holy shamans to turn him into what I once regarded as Armored Armadillo from Mega Man X, but at a very young age and smaller. All three fusion possibilities make Rand's attack & defense, already some of the highest in my team, even higher. fire & earth gives extra attack, water & earth gives extra wisdom & ap, holy & earth gives extra defense.
