In this video, I continue developing the Breakout clone in Godot on day 5 of this game development journey. I worked on core game functionality, including refining the pause menu, adding brick-breaking mechanics, and implementing a scoring system. I also explored designing levels, creating resources for level management, and discussed how level-specific settings will influence gameplay as the game progresses. While the project is still in the early stages, we now have a more complete framework for turning this into a functional Breakout game.
Additionally, I tackled troubleshooting issues with collisions, signals, and how objects interact in the scene tree, learning the nuances of using Godot's nodes effectively. I shared my thoughts and ideas on how the level manager and game manager will work together, as well as plans for future UI improvements and game features.
Thank you for tuning in to another Chill Sunday Morning Coding session! Stick around for more updates on this project as we integrate more features, improve mechanics, and design new levels.
