(CCPlays) Genesis Alpha One R2 (6 of ?): Choosing Resources To Target, Trading What, Stuck Robotnik
In this episode of GAO R2 (Run 2), we cover choosing resources (with an eye toward trading for stuff later at a merchant), trading, and more.
WHAT TO GET AND TRADE: Rad Blue should NEVER be traded. You need it for most research subjects, from weapons to cloning. Then you have the more exotic stuff, like a centrifuge, usually worth 4 at merchant, followed by cable and panel worth 3. The rest are worth 1 unit trade each. So if you want to buy like a 30 unit item (a new module), you have to drop a LOT of the expensive items, which is why you *should* build a huge storage, like 250+ units of storage, and possibly TWO deposits,
CREW WEAPONS: The crew can ONLY be armed with weapons on their list, which are mostly ballistic weapons. There is nothing you can do to change the list. Just give them a variety of different weapons, some with shotgun, some with MG, some with minigun, etc. .
DUMPING STUFF: You can go to the terminal in deposit to dump the raw materials and plants you've gathered from the surface. You can go to a storage module to dump processed resources, but generally, that's a bad idea, just build more storage. In the late game, you MAY need 2 deposits as you mine much faster than the refinery can process them.
STUCK ROBOTNIK: Robotniks CAN, in some unusual instances, get stuck, esp. in areas with heavy spore infestation. If it gets stuck, nothing gets moved. If that happens, you will need to destroy the stuck Robotnik and build a replacement.
COMBAT BOTS: There are two combat bots in the game, but you need to find blueprints for them at artifact sites. Small bot is tiny, large bot looks like a super-linebacker. Once you got the blueprint, you can build them at the workshop, provided you have the right components, and have crew at the workshop (to do it without you there, or you doing it manually), and you don't exceed the bot limit (most games limits you to 8 bots). You can only command one bot at a time. Go next to bot, and hit C(ommand), then 3 (arrows), which means "follow me". Then go to a module. C(ommand), then 1 (flag), and this is marked as a nav point. Designate another nav point elsewhere, then C(ommand), then 2 (clock) and it will patrol between the two nav points. You can define up to 3 legs of patrol.
