How to Play Genesis Alpha One (11/12) Firefight | CCPlays
Welcome to "How to Play Genesis Alpha One", episode 11: Firefight, where a GAO veteran will demonstrate how to board a shipwreck and involve in some heavy firefights with advanced alien enemies! You can consider this both a playthrough and a strategy guide (i.e. tips and tactics). I am on a PC, but all of this should also apply to other versions.

We got back to space, and after rebuilding the crew, we challenged some rogue captains. Now, we are looking for more gunpowder, as we need to build more turrets.
Oh, and no, combat robot is only for your own ship. It's really run by your ship's AI, and that's too much lag for remote ops. (try asking the AI that yourself!)
As we start, we located a shipwreck, and decided to board a shipwreck we parked near.
When I boarded, it has no less than THREE types of critters... liquids, infernos, AND one other alien onboard. So clearing the ship was a real PITA However, was able to recover quite a few bits of DNA, alien ability, and weapon bits. Did empty most of the ship, but took too much time and the corridors started leaking air, and decided to return.
I can't improve my ship because it has reached max number of reactors and there is ZERO room to even swap out a structure. The only way forward was to dump most of the raw resources, and remove one of the two deposits. Then the space can be used to create a greenhouse, to provide more crew. Then we can build a replacement, the improved version.
NOTE: yes, hypothetically I can build upwards or downwards, but that adds additional defensive problems.
Also note: by default, 1 person in greenhouse can take care of level 1 stuff (fern, 2 squares as displayed). If you have palm (3 squares) or even pine (4 squares), you will need to assign at least TWO people, and three people, respectively, to the greenhouse to keep the plants alive.
Went to a danger: high planet, helped the crew mine, then when they all went inside, I waited outside with 2 turrets deployed to keep hunting aliens. It was... risky, but it worked out fine. I kept hunting aliens until turret had only 60 rounds left, and left it on the planet.
Kept going to high or critical danger planets, with artifacts, and keep killing the aliens while the crew worked, and finally nabbed enough pieces to make acid rifle I.
Kept looking for gunpowder and batteries, and finally got too many batteries in storage. Had to keep purging inventory for both raw material and refined stuff. Cables are used for reinforcing some modules.
Finally trolled enough baddies on the planet to make Acid Rifle I. Found my crew was horrible in combating those small but numerous and fast-moving critters. More shotgun? Also found enough DNA to research Zelany II.
