(CCPlays) Genesis Alpha One R2 (8 of ?): Taking on a Rogue Captain, Exploring a Dying Shipwreck
In this episode of GAO R2 (Run 2), we discuss how to take on a rogue captain and explore a shipwreck.
PREPARING FOR BOARDING: Do NOT engage a rogue captain unless you have 4 shields, preferably with one operator in each shield module to get extra shield power, plus 2-3 extra people in the ship assault module as well in addition to you carrying a full complement of turrets and heavy weapons. I recommend MG and Energy Rifle, though Laser Rifle II will be fine. OPTIONAL: If possible, install an additional workstation in the ship assault module with an upgrade mod.
TAKE DOWN HIS SHIELDS: When ready, jump into the same sector as the rogue captain, and get the required number of people to the ship assault module, plus yourself. Then start tapping on those workstations, as your side tries to find a hole in his shields and his side tries to find a hole in your shield. You will win, of course, as you are faster than all AI, and you have 2-3 clones helping you.
ENERGIZE: Once you got his shields down, the scanning will start, and once the scanning finishes, you'll know the ship's loot and what else is there besides the captain. Now it's time to beam over, so, step into the beam...
GOING RAMBO STEALTH: From here on, it's a matter of carefully exploring the ship using turrets to cover your back and/or covering entrances, then you tease the door open and let the turret shoot through it, and repeat. Enemy turrets will hit hard. Retreat, drop a turret, retreat a little more, and hopefully by this time you have at least "Alien Ability: Heal" equipped, or you find an enemy health station to recharge. If you don't you can always beam back to your ship, heal, then come back.
RETREAT AND RETURN: If you are hurt badly, but in a safe area, beam back to your ship, heal, reload, rearm, and come back. The enemy will still be here, as you are beamed back to the same location you beamed out.
LET NO ONE ESCAPE: The enemy ship WILL be infested by critters in addition to the hostile crew. But the critters are usually hidden in the crawlways dormant, and only come out when you step into the corridor or crawlway. The crew, on the other hand, will be seeking you out. The sensor can't distinguish between them, or whether they are at the same level or below you. But you know how to deal with that by now, right?
TRIUMPHANT RETURN: You can't destroy the ship, so if you manage to kill the captain, you get a suit upgrade, and that's it, really. Sweep up any loot you want, and beam back to your ship.
SHIPWRECK EXPLORED: Exploring a shipwreck is the same idea as exploring a live ship, except there is no crew to bother you, but there will be plenty of lichen mass ready to turn back into soldiers to shoot you. Also, the ship is falling apart, and at any moment biosphere may start leaking and you better get out before the entire section is vented to space... Personally, raiding a shipwreck is not worth it unless there's an artifact site or upgrade module(s) onboard. If there's just biomass or loot, unless the loot is what you need at this moment (like you REALLY REALLY need some panels to build something), don't bother with boarding shipwrecks.
