*– VIDEO INTRODUCTION –*

Charging the mound is an attack by a batter against the pitcher, often as a result of being hit by a pitch.

Beginning in the third inning, a pitcher in _Bases Loaded_ can provoke a batter – usually the team's best hitter (highest batting average) – to charge the mound and be ejected from the game by "beaning" him.

By the way, to prevent the hitter from leaving the game after being ejected, press the B button when asked for a pinch runner.

*– GAME OVERVIEW –*

_Bases Loaded_ for the Nintendo Entertainment System is a baseball simulation sports video game. It was developed by Tose and published by Jaleco. The game was released in North America in July 1988.

This version has also been made available for the Nintendo Virtual Console (VC) service, viz.:
- Wii – Region: North America – Release Date: April 7, 2008
- 3DS and Wii U – Region: North America – Release Date: July 10, 2014

• _Bases Loaded_ was released in Japan as _Moero!! Pro Yakyuu (燃えろ!!プロ野球,_ lit. _Burn!! Pro Baseball)_ for the Nintendo Family Computer (FC), commonly known as the Famicom, on June 26, 1987.
◦ _Moero!! Pro Yakyuu_ is the first of Jaleco's sports video games under the _Moero!!_ brand. Three of the brand's baseball games have been localized for the Western market as part of the _Bases Loaded_ series.
◦ A remake of _Moero!! Pro Yakyuu_ – called _Moero!! Pro Yakyuu 2016 (燃えろ!!プロ野球2016)_ – was developed and published by Mebius. It was released in Japan on April 8, 2016, and November 11, 2016, for the Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Nintendo 3DS, respectively.

• Kouji Murata – best known for his many works at Konami – is one of the sound designers for _Bases Loaded._

• In the 1980s, few video games were licensed by the major North American professional sports leagues. As a result, the league represented in _Bases Loaded_ is a fictional one of twelve teams.

• _Bases Loaded_ features a television-style presentation of the batter vs. pitcher matchup previously seen in Accolade's _HardBall!_ (1985).
