*– GAME OVERVIEW –*
_Murder on the Mississippi_ for the Famicom is an adventure video game. It was ported by Tose and published by Jaleco. The game was released in Japan on October 31, 1986.
• Developer Activision first brought _Murder on the Mississippi_ to the North American market in 1986 for the Commodore 64 (C64) and 128 (C128), and the Apple II (A2) home computers. The full title of the home computer versions is _Murder on the Mississippi: The Adventures of Sir Charles Foxworth._
◦ Jaleco acquired the rights to publish the game in Japan. In addition to a port for the Famicom – a rather sloppy adaptation, missing a fair amount of gameplay and a suspect character – the company also released the game for the Microsoft MSX2 (1987).
• In _Murder on the Mississippi,_ detective Sir Charles Foxworth – not Sherlock Holmes – and his faithful companion Regis Phelps are on their way from St. Louis to New Orleans on the sternwheeler "S.S. Delta Princess", where they inadvertently find themselves in the middle of a murder case.
◦ Regis is called "Watson" in the Japanese script – just like Holmes's friend and confidant.
◦ Agatha Christie's mystery novel "Death on the Nile" serves as the basis for the story.
• Each suspect in _Murder on the Mississippi_ can only be talked to once per new piece of information. Therefore, it is possible to make the game unbeatable by missing information the first time around.
