Sandy Van
We caught up with Peter regarding his No. 2 VY Microsoft Xbox Holden Sandman Promotional vehicle, that he brought about 2 years ago now. It has its original 5.7 litre LS Engine; however, the exhaust has been modified to suit Peter's requirements. He was going to put a 6 litre LS engine that he has at home until he found out the story of the vehicle and decided to leave it as the original set up. The colour of the Sandman was change from Black to White and decals were added to the Van to top it all off.
Peter used Vision Trim Shop to complete the Rear interior of the Van with a lush finish that makes the Panel Van stand out. Moreover, it has an impressive stereo system the is separate from the cab with built in DVD player as well. He has a few touch ups left on the paint work and is waiting for a rear window seal, but overall, the Sandman Panel Van is outstanding. Hats off to you Peter and thanks for the chat with Aussie Garage.
Big Bird XC
Nathan is the owner of this Big Bird XC 1978 Ford Falcon Station Wagon that had a factory 351 engine in it but now is running a 393 stroked engine with a C4 gearbox and a mild cam. Nathan has owned the wagon for about three years now. It's painted in a the classic Pine n Lime Factory Ford Paint with black offsets and running on 225 tyres at the front and 265 tyres at the rear for a great stance on the road. It has a super rare option on the 7 seats folding away in the back of the tail gate area, which you don't see much these days but were common for large families back in the day to custom order this option.
He brought the station wagon to original flip the vehicle and then move on to the next one but fall in love with it and family loves it as well to cruise around getting groceries. It was awesome chatting with Nathan about his Big Bird XC station wagon and I sure that we will see him at one Rumble in Rocko Inc Event soon.
Sleeper HQ Panel Van
We got to talk to Anthony about his 1974 HQ Belmont Panel Van that is full of surprises. The Panel Van has an LS 1 Engine with full painters wiring kit in it and with more custom parts then Anthony can remember. A C6 Corvette gave its life by donating a huge of parts for this Panel Van, however, there is still loads more. DE Seats in the front with digital decoded custom dash, custom interior, Wilwood brake system and US Mags running on the classic nine-inch differential.
From looking at this Panel Van when it’s all closed, you would think it was tired and needed restoring, but this Holden Panel Van is a true sleeper van. Anthony is a member of the West Coast Vanners and love the get together and cruises that the club has and to people within the club as well.
He is about halfway there but according to his wife, his is done now. Don't all our wife feel the same way. Cannot wait to see what Anthony does next to the Panel Van.
Sandman Ute
We got to speak to Phil about his HQ Sandman Tribute Ute, that looks more HX than HQ. The Sandman Ute had a rotisserie paint job in green and pearl white and stand out in a crowd. He brought the Ute in Bunbury after searching for a project vehicle for some time and this one caught his eye, but he was not sold on the colour at the time. He rocked up and the Ute was in the Sun and just loved it.
The Ute is running a 304 engine that has now been stroked to 355 engine, but will be coming out of the Ute next week for a full rebuild at Dickies Speed Shop. Its going to remain a 355 engine but with a lumpy cam, roller rockers and other small details. Phil is aiming for more grunt noise than speed. The Sandman Ute is stunning and a real head turner cruising down the road and soon with the new grunt, its likely to make an impact.
