Rare XD Falcon Phase 5 and 1965 AP6 Valiant Interview at Shannons Southern Coffee Cruise
44Aussie Garage was at the Shannons Southern Coffee Cruise on the 28th of August 2022 to see all the Classic and Stunning vehicles that were on display.
Super Rare XD Falcon Phase 5.
We came across this Super Rare XD Falcon Phase 5 built by Phase Autos that were a Authorised manufacturer for Ford back in the back day. This Phase 5 is 1 of 25 XD Falcon Phrase 5 produced with all certification of the Falcon. We tried to get an interview but the owner was to shy, however, he show up around this stunning vehicle and told us all about it the background.
Once you sit in the front seat of the XD Phase 5, you really feel that you are in a Cockpit of the drivers seat with a full roof lining instrument panel. The interior is amazing as well as you will see.
An amazing piece of Australian Muscle Car history, well done for ensuring this vehicle stays alive.
Interview with Len about his 1965 AP6 Valiant.
Len has spent 9 years restoring this AP6 Valiant from the ground up. As you will see there a lot of simple but very affective changes to the Valiant that make your eyes gaze over the vehicle trying not to miss anything.
Simple changes like changing the 3 on the tree automatic to push button automatic. Len has done all the panel beating work to this Valiant as he was a Panel Beater by Trade, using a high attention to detail on all areas and striping this back to bare metal. His friends help in the process as well, like Rob White who did all the Trim for the Valiant and Glen Sinclair that did all the paint work on the vehicle.
The Valiant was definitely a labour of love for Len over these 9 years, but well worth it. The Valiant is running a 225 engine power plant with 40 thousand oversized, button end all balanced, 350 chevy valves, Cam tech Stage 3 Cam, Electronic Ignition and all the wiring hidden in the Valiant for that smooth finish in the engine bay. The Battery is hidden away in the boot out of the way and all the suspension has been restored and replated, plus has front Disc Brakes on it. It has a Tricked up 904 to finish it up.
Other Small changes are the boot struts that have been hidden. It has not radio or heater in the vehicle, but lets face it, who listening to the radio when you have an amazing engine to listen too all day. The Valiant has only done 29,000 original kilometers in the Valiant since new with log books to match, which makes this super low kms for the age of this car.
The Valiant is painted in the common Valiant Blue colour that they came out it and Rob and Len design the seat patterns for the interior. Which is out of a VC Regal and they are stunning, Classic with smooth lines and finish.
The 225 engine was built to have a Turbo Charger fitted and when he is ready, it will be mounted under the rear of the vehicle. The Engine running amazing now but after the Turbo Charger has been added, it will fly. It has only done 1000 kms in the new engine and will need to be serviced and retuned shortly.
