Chrono Trigger: Early Game Bosses (Broken Masamune)
0This covers the boss fights encountered after you unlock magic at the end of time and ends with the repairing of the masamune. I thought about including everything up to Magus but there's a lot to talk about with the Fiendlord Keep Bosses and not nearly as much for these fights.
Heckran: Difficulty 4/10* This boss is a bit of a waiting game. It exists to get you used to using magic against enemies because physical attacks aren't going to scratch him.
Ozzie: Difficulty 2/10 Did you know that you can actually attack Ozzie to lay the skeletons to rest instead of slaying them? I didn't before this playthrough
Zombor: Difficulty 5/10 This boss is weird and I'm kinda bad at it. Attacks that do critical damage to one half but heal the other half and I've never figured out what the weaknesses are. Anyways this boss has some attacks that can drain your HP and some dark elemental attacks. Once the top half dies it will use MP Buster as a last ditch effort. Then the legs will try to attack you with physical attacks. But if the legs die first the top half will die letting you skip phase 2 and MP Buster.
Masamune: Difficulty 8/10 The first true and honest 2 phase boss fight. No bells or whistles it's a challengeing boss fight. This is also the first boss that's likely to take you multiple tries (other than maybe Heckran if you didn't figure out use magic)
Nizbel: Difficulty 5/10 Nizbel is a physical powerhouse and has defenses so high he's gonna be hard to bring down... unless you use lightning on him which will lower his defenses to something much more manageable (a gimmick shown with the enemies in the dungeon leading up to this) but after a couple turns/seconds/whatever he'll counter with electric discharge to do a fair bit of damage and reset his defenses. Also yeah you could have Ayla steal from Nizbel if you're willing to grind TP to get charm but... that's her fifth skill so NO!
