Having lost the opportunity to take revenge on Magus in his age, Frog finally accomplishes it in the past.

After a string of rather simple battles in this challenge, this one stands out remarkably. This is an intense battle, where you any mistake can cost you your life and even by doing everything mechanically like a robot you are still not guaranteed success.

Magus's first phase is easy. He slashes Frog with his scythe, which does very minor damage, and continues to do so until he has around 3500 HP left. What you should worry about in this phase is, first of all, making sure that when Magus enters his second and deadliest phase Frog is near full health and has just used a Barrier to reduce damage from his mortal enemy's spells.

The second phase requires some preparation. Magus uses three level 2 spells: lightning, ice and fire. Out of these fire is the most damaging to Frog, so without any hesitation equip him the fire absorbing armour. Put on the Rainbow Helm to halve lightning damage and Magus has just one spell that you should be afraid of, which is Ice 2.

Don't even think about attacking him in this phase! If he counterattacks with Ice 2, chances are you won't stay alive until your next turn comes. Using a Barrier should be top priority, however, if you're not in Barrier status and he just used Ice 2, then obviously heal with a Mid Tonic, because another Ice 2 will kill you even after a Barrier. In fact, two Ice 2's without healing in between means quick death.

You now depend solely on Magus using Fire 2, which he hardly used against me, putting me into extreme situations all over the place. When he does use it, you are somewhat safe to attack him with Leap Slash (easily Frog's best attack move), just to heal immediately afterwards (not needed if he uses Fire 2 again).

This was a lot of fun until I realized I had 8 Mid Tonics left. When I did, I started to heal myself with Cure 2 as well and would use Mid Ethers to have enough MP to keep doing this (risky) until... I hit him with Leap Slash and found out it was enough to win.

Yay! This is just as fun as the original battle in his castle! Makes me happy I am doing this challenge.
