With Red Vest & Red Mail equipped, this is the safest battle in the game. No kidding, you wouldn't lose this battle even if you tried to on purpose.

Crono dies very quickly and shouldn't be brought back. Ayla charms and gets a Speed Tab (these things are good).

Ayla and Robo hit the Gaia, using either techs or normal attacks.

There is no need to worry about healing in this battle, because our fire absorbing armour heals us to full HP, and he tends to use the fire blaster more often than his full-party shadow attack.

Surprisingly easy.
