Chrono Trigger Minimum Battles (LLG) Part 1 - 16 Battles to Zombor
7In this challenge, I"ll be attempting to advance to complete Chrono Trigger while engaging in the minimum battles possible. This means either avoiding enemies altogether, or using the escape function to exit battles without any reward. For the purposes of clarity, a battle will be considered complete when experience is awarded, therefore boss fights like Masamune will be considered to be 2 fights and fighting Spekkio will not be considered a battle as he doesn't award experience. I will also be doing all the sidequests as well as the Black Omen.
This first video details the first 16 battles between the start of the game and facing Zombor on the Zenan Bridge in 600 AD. You can find a list of the mandatory battles below, along with their location. Only Boss battles are in the video, as the regular fights are not particularly challenging.
The first unavoidable fights are the 3 Blue Imps in Truce Canyon immediately after going through the first gate in the Millenial fair. Next is the Naga's in the Cathedral, then the Underling and Diablos in the room with the organ needed to unlock the secret door in the Cathedral to get to Yakra. After defeating Yakra you can avoid all the fights until the next boss by waiting until Lucca comes to rescue you instead of trying to break out of prison yourself. You can avoid the Sentries (Blue Shields) in the prison tower by carefully walking in between them. Continue to the future and defeat the Guardian and the Bit before having to fight enemies in Proto Dome and the Derelict Factory to progress the plot. Battle 10 randomly generates Acid and Alkali, I restarted if I didn't spawn 2 Alkali for that extra bit of experience. After defeating the R-Series and getting access to the End of Time, fight the 2 underlings who spawn at Heckran cave before taking out Heckran, then advance to Zenan Bridge to fight Ozzie and Zombor.
