After defeating Magus we are sent back to Prehistoric times to team up with Ayla and fight the Reptiles. Nizbel II can be a challenging fight due to his ability to increase his defense when attacked. This can be circumvented by instead using Rage Band to counterattack Nizbel, which doesn't trigger defenses to increase. Using 2 Lightning attacks from Crono will lower his defenses without triggering the Electric Discharge attacks, then we simply wait until we've gotten enough counterattacks to defeat Nizbel.

The Black Tyranno can be a difficult fight, but after defeating Azula the Black Tyrano will lower his defenses, and you can attack with Ice Sword. Ayla won't have any techs outside of Kiss, so I use the Berserker's Ring and just let her attack. When Black Tyrannos countdown ends he attacks with a powerful fire attack that will kill any character not wearing Ruby Vest. I used the Ruby Vest on Marle and had her revive the party with Atheanian Water. After defeating the Black Tyranno we gain access to Antiquity, as well as the sealed chests which can be unlocked by Marle's charged Pendant, this allows access to powerful armors and accessories, including the Safe Helm.

After gaining the Epoch and returning to Antiquity, I recommend purchasing upgraded weapons for Crono and Robo. The Mud Imp will run away if you don't defeat him quickly enough and the XP and TP from this fight are important. Once you reach Giga Gaia at the top of Mt. Woe, equip Marle and Chrono with Red Plate and Red Vest respectively. Giga Gaia uses fire attacks frequently, and by absorbing the damage Marle and Crono will be safe from Giga Gaia's attacks. Robo is the only one who is in danger of dying from Giga Gaia so I equipped him with the Ruby Vest and the Golden Earing to increase fire resistance and HP. Marle's Cure spells was able to keep Robo alive, allowing Crono and Robo to attack the head and defeating Giga Gaia.
