Chrono Trigger Minimum Battles (LLG) Part 5 - 73 Battles to Yakra XIII
3If we were to advance to face Lavos now we would have no chance of survival. We need to get more tech points on Marle so that we can unlock her final tech Arise and get the triple tech Lifeline. Lifeline is critical to our strategy to defeat Lagos. So we will complete the various side quests to get more XP, Tech Points and end-game gear, while only doing the minimum amount of battles to complete each quest.
Magus's Quest is easy enough. Diva Flea and Super Slash are trival when faced alone, and when facing the trio of Flea, Slash and Ozzie together then we simply need to manipulate the counter attacks to that the correct element goes to the correct party member with the associated elemental plate. Once Flea is defeated, Slash and Ozzie will fall easily.
There is no escaping the monsters in Geno Dome, so we will have several battles here which are necessary to complete Robo's quest. Once Robo defeats Atropos XR he gets a permanent bonus to his speed and magic defense, making him a far superior tank and increasing his damage. Once into the late game, when Robo becomes a permanent member of the party after the chapter "Unnatural Selection", I start to give Robo power and speed tabs to help increase his damage. When facing Mother Brain, take out 2 of the 3 displays, taking out all 3 displays will cause Mother Brain to attack with powerful AoE attacks. Instead, keep one displace alive, and do damage faster than it can heal to achieve victory.
The Son of the Sun fight is easy enough when you equip Red Plates and Red Vest. Simply attack with the fire-absorbing characters until you find the correct flame and continue attacking until victory. Watch out for the powerful Shadow attack as well, equip Dark Helm on Marle so she doesn't get killed in one hit.
The Rust Tyranno is best countered by equipping the Wraith Band and equipping Red Plates and Red Vest to absorb the fire attacks. When facing Yakra XIII make sure you have protection from the Confuse status and hit him with your most powerful attacks. Once completed Marle's quest we should get powerful endgame gear such as the Prism Helms, Prism Specs, and the Rainbow, which will be invaluable facing Black Omen.
