Chrono Trigger Minimum Battles (LLG) Part 2 - 33 Battles to Magus
4After the battle for Zenan Bridge Chrono and the party meet Frog and embark on the quest to fix the Masamune. We head to the Denadoro Mountains to find the broken sword before heading to Prehistoric times to secure the raw materials needed to fix the legendary sword. The Reptite Lair contains many encounters which cannot be escaped from but you can avoid most of them by going through the correct tunnels made by the Aecyto Weevils (the path with the Ruby Vest). Once the sword is complete we can add Frog to the party, take him to Spekkio to learn magic and advance on Magus's Castle.
The Fiendlord's Keep is a very challenging fight, so I took a detour to the Abandoned Sewers in the future. Defeating Krawlie is not necessary at this stage but it is a necessary fight much later in the game and the extra experience and Rage Band accessory will help out in the upcoming battles. Further, I can get XP for Ayla by waiting to do the Sewers until after first going to the Prehistoric Era.
A quick note on tabs, in the Magus fight I equip Frog and Robo with Speed Belts and Crono with the Bandana. I put all tabs on Crono in the early game as you need the advantage against Magus. I gave Crono Speed tabs until he hits 13 Speed, so with Slasher and the Bandana he can hit max speed for the Magus battle. This leaves an additional Speed Tab which can go to Marle for now.
Stock up on Athenian Water, I bought 8, before going through the Magic Cave. In Magu's Castle defeat Slash, Flea and Ozzie before taking on the Fiendlord himself. Magus's ultimate attack is likely to kill the whole party so bring Robo and equip him with Dark Mail to increase his Magic Defense. If Robo is full health he can take the damage and revive his companions to continue the fight.
