CiB Game Boy Theater - Jordan vs Bird: One on One and Mickey Mouse: Magic Wands! (Episode 85)
1The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
Jordan vs Bird One on One sure is a video game. It was released very early in the Game Boy's life and was developed and published by Electronic Arts. It's really, really difficult to go back to the 'realistic' Game Boy games because what was potentially cutting-edge back in the day is just awful to experience nowadays. Regardless, I could barely score a single point against the average CPU, so either I'm bad or the game is bad (or both?)
Mickey Mouse: Magic Wands! has a somewhat interesting development story - it was developed by Kemco and also published by Kemco in Japan in 1993 -- but for some reason, was not released in the US until 1998, when it was published by Nintendo. That's likely why it has special (and color) Super Game Boy support. Overall, the gameplay is pretty much what you want out of a Game Boy game - it's like Solomon's Club (except good) where you can jump. Overall, I enjoyed this one very much, and it was a nice way to take away the taste of Jordan vs Bird. Thanks for watching!
