CiB Let's Try - Mortal Kombat: Special Forces (PS1)
Mortal Kombat Special Forces was released in 2000 for the PS1, making it a rather late PS1 release --- it was developed and published by Midway Games.
Mortal Kombat is an interesting series: it started out really strong (up to and including Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3) then really fell off the cliff with a bunch of bad mainline series games (Mortal Kombat 4) and offshoot games (Mythologies: Sub-Zero). After years of being kind of a bad series, it came roaring back with Mortal Kombat 9 for PS3/360, and MK10 and MK11 are generally considered to be very good to excellent fighting games.
I will always be nicer than I should to MK Mythologies Sub-Zero - I realize it is definitely a below-average game, but there's something about it that is unique and endearing, even if it's a pretty bad game in the end.
Mortal Kombat: Special Forces has none of those endearing qualities, and the first word to come to mind when associating with this game is 'boring'. It looks boring, it sounds boring, it plays boring, it is boring. I honestly wish it was more laughably bad a la Bubsy 3D, but it's the kind of bad where you end up talking about other games that are much better or much worse, while this one just slides into the background. If you didn't fall asleep, thanks for watching!
