COMMAND TSS / CMANO Sub Tutorial 2-4 // USN 688-class SSN vs Soviet Typhoon SSBN and more

Command: The Silent Service is a standalone DLC for Command: Modern Ops (often abbreviated CMANO). This is Submarine Tutorial 2-4, Intermediate final exam.
We are commanding a 688-class aka Los Angeles class SSN with a single nuclear depth charge mounted on a SUBROC missile. We need to hunt down the Soviet Typhoon-class boomer, without running afoul of its escorts... As they are ALL armed with nuclear warheads on torpedoes and more... in the Arctic, where sonar conditions are dreadful...

NOTE: Audio quality is... bad. I had to get a new microphone and I am still dialing in the settings. Sorry about that.
00:00 Start
We are in command of the USS Olympia (SSN 717). We know the Soviet boomer is somewhere north of us, but we have no idea where. Set weapons hold... manual explicit shoot command only.
Changing heading to 344, we will stay shallow (above layer) and creep (5 kt). And wait... a lot.
02:37 Skunk surface contact
We are detecting surface contact bearing 25. As it has both HF and MF sonar, it is probably a Soviet warship. There are no civilian vessels this far north... But they seem to be heading mostly west. We'll observe...
04:53 Goblin subsurface contact
On the other side of a pod of whales we just detected a submarine... very obviously Soviet, but which is it?
Then we detected another one... The closer one is the escort, a Victor III. The one in the back is the Typhoon...
Allocate UIM-44 in tube 1 to Typhoon. Allocate 2 Mk48 torpedoes in tubes 2 and 3 to Victor III.
Match generates bearings on tube 1. Shoot tube 1.
06:45 Impact!
Typhoon destroyed. Victor III now entering torpedo range.
Weapons release on tubes 2 and 3. Reload tube 1 with Mk48. Shoot when ready.
Tubes 2 and 3 away. Torpedoes running hot straight and true.
Dive, max safe down bubble to test depth. Helm, all ahead flank.
09:33 Breakup noises!
One torpedo has definitely acquired... terminal homing... Missed... auto-reattack... missed again... auto-reattack... hit! Breakup noises! We got the Victor III!
There's one more enemy out there. That surface ship. Where is it?
10:54 Skunk Reacquired
We got the skunk unknown surface contact back, this time bearing 321.
We IDed it as a Kashin class DDG (guided missile destroyer). It is armed with nuclear-armed rocket-delivered torpedo, so approaching it is probably not a good. We'll try maximum stand-off torpedo and/or Harpoon missiles.
15:15 Torpedoes ready
We're launching 2 torpedoes against the Kashin. Solutions updated. Shoot 1, shoot 2.
Impact... no explosion sir! We have a dud! The other torpedo... has gone rogue!
Ready tubes 1 and 2 with Harpoons! Shoot when ready!
Harpoons away. Enemy is jamming... Still on the way... On the way... Impact! Breakup noises! She's gone, sir!
Okay, that's good enough, I guess. Anything else? Secure from general quarters. Disengage when possible.
