Suburban Commando, developed and released by Alternative Software in 1993.
“World famous Wrestling Superstar Hulk Hogan stars as ‘Shep Ramsey, Suburban Commando’ in this multi-level, multi-style, all action game. Based on the storyline of the hit film, you control Shep in his epic battle against the forces of evil General Suiter. Featuring three styles of game, a shoot-em-up, one on one combat and massive platform levels this is a game that will have you coming back to it time and time again. Smooth graphics, fast action, great music and sound fx and the Hulkster himself. What more do you need? Get blasting now!”
Not much to say on this one. While not as big as its 16bit counterpart, the game looks quite nice and has multiple music pieces to keep things interesting. In many ways it seems like a re-skin of Dalek Attack. The game is an exploration platformer requiring you to set bombs at specific locations before the game gives you the access card to open the final door to the boss fight. The boss fights can be tricky but if you get them against the wall in just the right position, they will get stuck and you can hammer the fire button till they drop. The ending is the usual well done text screen.
As a final note, avoid the Motiv 8 release of the game as it has some weird bugs that make the game uncompletable (thats with all trainers disabled!). Shep jumps weirdly enabling him to walk in the air and you can jump off lifts meaning you get stuck in the final level. If you walk over a collectable it just collects infinitely making the score shoot up!
