ComputerCraft: path finding with turtle vision
I've added a big screen to the setup. Now you can see what the turtle sees! Its actions are really quite sensible when you realize how little it can see. I could detect the block in front to gather slightly more information about other paths (to be precise, the block past a turn - the only thing it can see that's not part of the route), but it wouldn't help much. It would be really helpful if the turtle could detect blocks in other directions, maybe even blocks not directly adjacent.
You might notice that I set it astray at one point. -2 -2 is an unreachable spot just outside the maze. While it's attempting to get there it discovers the entire outer boundary, and then gives up.
Some people have asked me for the code. Actually I deleted it while cleaning up my saves folder. Sorry. :-(
