Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex Part 18: The End
So, after completing the last level of the last world, we finish the game off with the last boss fight against Cortex and Crunch. With the end of the game, comes my final thoughts which, as you should know by now (unless you are new to the channel, I guess), it will have some spoilers so, you’ve been warned. Overall, I thought the game was actually rather fun although it did have its challenges. The ground movement within the game is fairly decent but some of the flying missions are awkward. Most notably, the space-based mission with Coco and the mission with the jet-pack were very difficult to use. The mission where you are stuck in a ball were actually rather fun, mostly because the ball was very responsive. The story for this game was kind of rushed at the beginning of the game (I think there was one major cut-scene that explained literally everything) and because of that, I don’t really remember most of the characters outside of Cortex, Crash, Coco and Crunch (I’m seeing a pattern, Kappa). The levels themselves are fun but they seem scattered; they don’t really continue one-after another nor are even in the same zone (You can go from the arctic tundra and then the next mission has you flying in a Tornado-infested area). I’m wondering if the places within each mission is a callback to different areas from the previous games and I just don’t understand because I haven’t played those games. There aren’t too many levels (only 25 if you don’t include the bonus five missions) but there feels like a lot to do with all the challenge within the game (Time Trials, The Power Gems etc.) that will definitely take some time, especially for me. The music in the game is fantastic, I love the opening song; not sure if the music is original or if they are from the other games but, either way, I do enjoy it nonetheless. Overall, I think it’s a solid game that’s enjoyable; a game that you can switch on without worrying about the story all too much.
