Matthäus Chajdas (AMD) presents some of the new concepts behind D3D12 and how they affect games. D3D12 fundamentally changes the way graphics engines are designed and enables developers to achieve creative visions that were not possible before. Game-changing new features of D3D12 include multithreaded command list creation and asynchronous shaders. Command lists enable more efficient use of both the GPU & CPU and make it possible to render hundreds or thousands of different objects per frame. Similarily, asynchronous shaders allow to execute compute and graphics concurrently to max out the GPU usage. Learn how you should prepare to take maximum advantage of D3D12!
