D&D 5e Class Overview: Monk (2024 PHB)
This series is designed to provide an overview of each of the classes in D&D 5e. The goal is to provide an understanding of the ins and outs of each class to (hopefully) inspire new characters. In this video, I cover the Monk class for D&D 5e, as updated in the new 2024 PHB. Note that the ratings at the end of the video are considering only the core class, and not how each subclass works. Monk has seen some pretty massive changes, and is one of if not the most improved class in the 2024 PHB. They've seen buffs to damage, defense, and are overall easier to use with a lot of conditions to use their abilities removed. Many features which took action economy before are free, and they've been given tools to replenish resources at tables that don't get many short rests. Stunning Strike has notably seen a nerf/rework; this feature was arguably too strong before and was a potential reason why the class got little to nothing after level 6 offensively in 2014.
All opinions in this video are mine. Agree? Disagree? Have a different opinion, or saw something I missed? Let me know in the comments!
