Danmaku Simulation 296 - Sub Game ALL Clear (No-Miss)
108Also called 弾幕シミュレーション296, Danmaku Simulation 296 is a tutorial game that teaches you all about how to play shmups. It also has a subgame inside of it that's more like a traditional shmup consisting of three stages.
The tutorial section is divided into three sections: Novice, Middle and Advanced. Novice covers all the basic stuff like different shottypes and streaming. Middle covers more in depth stuff like restreaming and bullet cancelling and Advanced covers more advanced stuff like pointblanking, bullet sealing and using offscreen scrolling.
Each section consists of 8 missions that serve to teach and explain you this stuff through interactive play. Each mission even has a demo mode to show you how it's done. It's done quite well.
The Sub Game is more like a traditional shmup in a way that it follows three stages and can be seen as a sort of final exam. There was a 2nd loop planned but I'm not sure if that's ever going to be implemented at this point. The condition to trigger it is 1-miss or less at least.
You can play as Strong style from DFK BL if you hold start while selecting a ship.
Scoring consists of speedkilling and pointblanking. Enemies start at 100% value and this percentage goes down over time. Pointblanking gives you per-frame score. There is also a bonus for lives and bombs remaining at the end of every stage.
It would be very interesting to see this game get translated, because it would be a very good asset for beginners to learn about shmups.
