17A quick look at Dauntless. A Monster Hunter inspired game for PC.
In Dauntless you are a slayer. Your task? To hunt behemoths who threaten the safety of the settlements in the shattered isles. Behemoths are enormous beasts, mutated beyond reason by the Aether. For every one you kill, another is born.
However, these behemoths also drop valuable materials and fragments which you can use to craft a set of weapons and armour that suits your playstyle or to counter specific more problematic behemoths.
You can also team up with up to three other slayers to take down behemoths. With the fate of the shattered isles in your hands, can you resist the urge to run screaming from these monsters? Or are you one of the brave few, the dauntless slayers of Ramsgate? Only time will tell...
Okay that was fun to write. But in all seriousness, Dauntless is a lot of fun. Monster Hunter but for PC is something a lot of people have always wanted (And Monster Hunter itself comes to PC later this year as well) and Dauntless scratches that itch perfectly. The thrill of learning how to perfectly counter an enormous behemoth who has downed you dozens of times and make an art of its dismantling (and a new coat of its hide) is an amazing feeling. The devs are very active and the playerbase is both new and eager to help newbies learn the ropes. As a free game, I'd encourage everyone to at least give Dauntless a try.
