Noob to Nodewar: The One With the Ending - Ep. 5
In this episode of Noob to Nodewar we'll cover the most important part of entering your first nodewar. Joining a guild.
In order to enter the nodewar you must first join a guild (Preferably one that does nodewars).
Joining a guild involves more than just joining the first guild to post that they're searching for players. It's like interviewing for a job. You want to make sure that the guild is a good fit for you as a player.
The criteria I personally use when searching for a guild are:
1. Do I meet the guild requirements?
No point applying to join if you don't meet the requirements. Never hurts to ask if you're close though.
1b. What's the guilds schedule?
If you want to participate in node wars you need to be free on nodewar nights. Each guild has different nights they like to participate in node wars. Some guilds do 1 node war a week. Others do several. Make sure you can participate in the main node war night at the very least before joining a guild.
2. How active is the guild?
Joining a dead or dying guild will delay your progress by quite a bit. With less officers online it will be hard to do guild missions to raise your contribution points, and with less members it will be difficult to have fun and perform well in node wars.
3. What are the benefits like?
For benefits you're looking for a high daily pay, or consistent payouts (Meaning the guild has to be able to win node wars). A guild with low daily pay and no nodes won't allow you to earn much extra silver once again delaying your progression.
You're also looking for guild buffs. Gathering/Fishing boosts, call to gather, there are plenty of good guild perks that make a difference in your everyday life in Black Desert.
4. What's the atmosphere like in the guild?
This is more subjective as different people will like different guild atmospheres. Some guilds are ruled with an iron fist, enforcing strict adherence to the rules. Others are full of memers, edgelords, and weebs, constantly posting random anime pics in the discord. Others are laid back and casual allowing complete freedom for their members. Finding a guild with an atmosphere that suits you is important for your own enjoyment of the game. Stricter guilds are generally better about defending their members in wars over grind spots or small disputes. Casual guilds are usually worse at this but also much more lax about allowing you to start fights on your own. It's all a matter of personal preference.
4b. Does the guild have an external app they use to communicate?
Guilds with discords, line groups, or other external methods of communication are much more coordinated and generally much more cohesive than guilds who only rely on ingame chat for communication. Most guilds do have a discord, and generally they're ok with letting you join for a couple minutes to see if you like the atmosphere before joining the guild itself.
5. Is there room for advancement?
A lot of players are fine with joining a t1 guild and forever remaining a normal member in its ranks. But to some they want to rise up and become an officer, and they want the guild to advance as well. Finding a guild with similar ambitions to your own and that allows for promotion is a good idea if you're the more ambitious type. If you're fine with being a regular member than don't worry about your guilds ambitions, you can just join another one once you're strong enough to meet the requirements.
