You see, the Debian developers are planning to release version 11 on August 14 of this year. In other words, it is less than a month away! This year, you can celebrate the August 14 birthdays of celebrities Mila Kunis, Steve Martin, and Magic Johnson by downloading and installing the wildly popular Linux distribution.

"In the last week prior to the freeze, testing will be completely frozen and only emergency bug fixes will be considered in this period. Please consider Tuesday the 2021-08-03 at 12:00 UTC the absolute last moment for submitting unblock requests for bullseye," says Paul Gevers, Debian Developer.

Gevers further says, "Changes that are not ready to migrate to testing at that time will not be included in bullseye for the initial release. However, you can still fix bugs in bullseye via point releases if the changeset follows the rules for updates in stable. Starting now, we will be even more strict when considering unblock requests."

It is important to remember that a new version of Debian isn't just significant for Debian users, but users of other Linux-distributions too. Since many operating systems are based on Debian, the release of Bullseye will have a huge impact on the Linux community overall. August 14 will certainly be a monumental day.

Debian developers are gearing up to announce Debian 11 Bullseye on Saturday, August 14th. The developers state that they will now take a stricter stance on the current freeze and remaining changes and bug fixes. Therefore, only requests for unblocking are requested for changes and bug fixes that are really needed. As it will be remembered, it was announced a few months after the previous Debian versions went into the freezing process. Whereas, Debian 11 Bullseye , will be announced shortly after entering the complete freeze period, which we announced in our news titled “Debian 11 Bullseye has reached its final milestone”.Debian 11 Bullseye built on the 5.10 LTS Linux kernel; It comes with lots of package updates and other improvements over Debian 10, which was launched two years ago.

Debian 11.0 "Bullseye" Gets An August Release Date

The Debian release team has just announced their planned release date for Debian 11.

Debian developers are aiming to release Debian 11.0 "Bullseye" on Saturday, 14 August.

In announcing this release date, the release team is now going to be more strict about the current freeze and for remaining changes / bug fixes to land. Unblock requests will now be handled more strictly and the unblock request deadline has been set for 3 August.

This mid-August release date is great to hear with only a few weeks to go until Debian 11.0 should meet the world. It's also quicker than expected given the Debian 11 full freeze last week and with prior Debian releases being up to a few months past that point before they ultimately released.

Debian 11.0 is built off the Linux 5.10 LTS kernel and has a wealth of package updates and other improvements over Debian 10 that launched two years ago.
