Declasse DR1 Customization | San Andreas Prix Open Wheel Racing Car | GTA Online
The Declasse DR1 is an open wheel car featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Los Santos Summer Special update. The DR1 is a single-seat race car presumably based on the Dallara DW12 IndyCar. Several liveries are available to replicate the design of IndyCar teams and specific drivers including Will Power's #12 Team Penske livery. The DR1 features a narrow, low-profile design, where the front has a distinctive long nose with large dual wings and black/carbon fins, as well as control arms for the front wheels and black narrow ducts for the front brakes. The middle section of DR1 features rounded intakes beside the nose and curved panels near the rear wheels, while the center of DR features an open driver compartment with two rectangular mirrors beside it and a tall compartment with a loop/roll bar on top and a long fin running towards the rear of DR1. The DR1 is a surprisingly well rounded vehicle, having fair handling and excellent braking, although lower acceleration than the PR4. At high speeds, the DR1 will get a slight understeer when attempting tight turns but this is mitigated through simple use of brakes. The downside of using DR1, however, is that the driver will be unable to use their weapons at all, risking the player getting attacked and not being able to return fire. Unlike other vehicles, the DR1 damage absorption will not result in deformation but instead the body kit falling off, exposing the engine and base frame. This can result in more understeer as the DR1 loses more traction because of the missing parts, especially if the spoiler is gone. Due to the immense downforce, the DR1 can also drive on walls, even ones that are slightly curved outwards, and even ceilings if the player angles the DR1 correctly, especially in the Los Santos Storm Drain, where there are inclines. The Declasse DR1 can be purchase from Legendary Motorsport for $2,997,000.
Take a good look at the DR1 and close your eyes. Do you feel faint from the smell of burning rubber? Is the intensity of the exhaust fumes making your hair fall out? Can you feel the splash of insects as they pass through your unprotected mouth and down your throat? Yes, yes and yes. Now get inside and say that again, only faster. Much faster.
San Andreas Prix Open Wheel Races are a series of Land Races featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the continuation of The Diamond Casino Heist update. The races are available for 1 to 16 players and the default lap count is 10, although the lobby host can also set the duration to 5, 15, 20, or 25 laps. Players can choose any vehicle in the Open Wheel vehicle category. There is also an option to select three types of tyres: Soft, Medium or Hard. Soft tyres offer more grip, but have lower duration, while Hard tyres have less grip, but offer more duration. Medium is basically the middle line of the aforementioned tyres. Tyre selection is crucial for the general layout of a race. Despite various wing setups giving different performance characteristics in Freeroam, all vehicles in these races perform exactly the same regardless of which wings the player has installed on their car. Open Wheel Races have a Pit stop that allows the regeneration of the vehicle and tyre "health", thus repairing the vehicle completely and avoiding getting the car's tyres deflated.
Players can modify their own vehicles in their Auto Shop. Classic and Crew paint is free, and other modifications have a 5% discount. All locked modifications are unlocked for the shop owner in their own Auto Shop.
