Progen PR4 Customization | San Andreas Prix Open Wheel Racing Car | GTA Online
The Progen PR4 is an open wheel car featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the continuation of The Diamond Casino Heist update. The PR4 is a Formula One car modelled after the 1989 McLaren MP4/5, evidenced by the V10 powerplant and solo wing/spoiler, although the sharper nose, flatter air intake and narrower rear endplate of PR4 leans toward the 1991 McLaren MP4/6. Some modifications available at Los Santos Customs on the PR4 are apparently borrowed from the MP4/5B. The PR4's engine is supplied by Dinka Racing Division, reflecting the McLaren's Honda power. The PR4 is a surprisingly well rounded vehicle, having fair handling and excellent braking. At high speeds, PR4 will get a slight understeer when attempting tight turns but this is mitigated through simple use of brakes. The PR4 damage absorption will not result in deformation but instead the body kit falling off, exposing the engine and base frame. This can result in more understeer as PR4 loses more traction because of the missing parts, especially if the spoiler is gone. In addition to PR4 already impressive speed, the PR4 also has KERS, allowing the driver to increase their speed even further by activating the boost, in a similar manner to the Lectro and the Vindicator. PR4's boost lasts for four seconds and it takes about six seconds to recharge to its full capacity, but it does not have to be full to activate it. In order for the boost to recharge, PR4 needs to begin slowing down to let it charge. The Progen PR4 can be purchase from Legendary Motorsport for $3,515,000.
Okay, before you click off, we know what you're thinking. The power, the handling, the aerodynamics, they're all very well but what can you possibly do with as formidable an open wheel race car as the Progen PR4 on the city streets? You're the one reckless enough to find out. You tell us.
San Andreas Prix Open Wheel Races are a series of Land Races featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the continuation of The Diamond Casino Heist update. The races are available for 1 to 16 players and the default lap count is 10, although the lobby host can also set the duration to 5, 15, 20, or 25 laps. Players can choose any vehicle in the Open Wheel vehicle category. There is also an option to select three types of tyres: Soft, Medium or Hard. Soft tyres offer more grip, but have lower duration, while Hard tyres have less grip, but offer more duration. Medium is basically the middle line of the aforementioned tyres. Tyre selection is crucial for the general layout of a race. Despite various wing setups giving different performance characteristics in Freeroam, all vehicles in these races perform exactly the same regardless of which wings the player has installed on their car. Open Wheel Races have a Pit stop that allows the regeneration of the vehicle and tyre "health", thus repairing the vehicle completely and avoiding getting the car's tyres deflated.
Players can modify their own vehicles in their Auto Shop. Classic and Crew paint is free, and other modifications have a 5% discount. All locked modifications are unlocked for the shop owner in their own Auto Shop.
