According to Activision, Bungie’s Destiny grossed more than $325 million dollars within 5 days of its release, not including the $500 million it made by selling the game to retailers in the first place. Activision haven’t yet revealed full sales figures, but Activision publishing executive, Eric Hirshberg, said:

“Destiny fans played more than 100 million hours of the game in the first week. That's on par with the engagement levels of our most popular Call of Duty games, which obviously is an industry leader.”

Interestingly enough, the reviews for Destiny aren’t all that positive. I haven’t reviewed it yet, but if I were to sum it up in a single word at this point, that word would be ‘disappointing’. I can’t quite comprehend why the game is so popular, honestly.

Bungie have stuck with their promise of continuously making content for Destiny with its first ever Raid challenge going live, and, subsequently being finished. It’s a six-player Raid that requires all players to be higher than level 26, called ‘Vault of Glass’, and Bungie have said that its it “the most elaborate mission ever created by us”.

They also said that it is:
“A mystery as much as it is a challenge--a puzzle and a gauntlet. The race to see who can be first to solve it, with their cunning and their skill, is about to begin. Not everyone will qualify, and among those who do, not everyone will succeed.”

After saying that, Bungie confirmed that the raid was completed by a clan called Primeguard after 10 hours and 40 minutes. That is an obscenely large amount of time for most people to dedicate to one thing – being that there’s no match-making in the raids and you must already be in a party to actually start one, I feel like that will be pretty hard for anyone who works full-time or studies to co-ordinate with their friends. Good on Primeguard for managing to pull it off so fast.
