DFFOO [JP][Act 4 Chapter 7 Part 2] Punishing poor eyesight with Rydia/Faris/Kelger
This is on baby account because I don't want to pull on main for Rydia and I happened to get 2 Kelger BT for some reason on baby, so it seems like a good place to put him in.
I also mentioned in Ope Ope that Rydia may pair very well with Faris because of the water off-turn attacks and debuff renewal, so here is the practical
demonstration of it. It is quite convenient as expected.
Only Faris has a D6 SPD down on her. The others are moving at normal speed.
I can almost feel that Vayne is about to turn into his final boss form. Look at how he has a close up for his punches this time! It sure is one step closer.
RE-Shinryu info:
Orb conditions: (limit: 12)
+1: boss taking weakness dmg
+3: player evading attacks
-2: Player/Enemy action
Force related: (Vayne)
0%: Immune to delays/turn deletion (break inclusive)
FA: Tree of Sephira+ (AOE magic BRV+HP)
- immediately move his closest turn to the front of the queue
- ignore BRV/HP dmg mitigation/nullification
HP thresholds:
Both Vayne/Kefka
50/80%: "Gathering an immense amount of strength"
- HP dmg+
- HP dmg taken-
- 80% HP dmg taken healed immediately
* removed when player dodges an attack
Kefka:
30/60%: Use "Light of Judgement" on his next turn (Red Aura)
(AoE BRV+HP)
- Also inflicts multiple debuffs
* removed after "Light of Judgement" is used
General Strat:
Both Vayne and Kefka always use ST target, except for 1 AoE attack under special occasion (Vayne for his FA, Kefka for the two threshold attacks). Therefore you only need one character with evasion capabilities to satisfy the orb and deal with all the dmg. All of their attacks can be dodged.
In theory, if you have enough off-turn attacks for the orb or DPS to skip, you can head in without a dodge team. You can use Rydia CA or Cater CA etc to cancel their healing aura (which only happen twice).
Kelger is pretty much an easy answer if you don't have Rydia. He absorb all of the attacks barring the AOEs. Since you can use any elements, there are a lot of complement options.
Basically what happened here is Kelger would be the person that collect all of the attacks to trigger all of his preemptive strikes and evade-triggered counter (4+4+3). Meanwhile, at the end of boss turns, both Rydia (6) and Faris's attacks (6+12) would also trigger. Since Faris's 50 debuff demand is always satisfied, every boss turn causes them to take a total of 35 HP hits (11+18+6) per turn on a ST and some AOE splash.
Regarding Rydia:
She an average amount of on-turn dmg for this age. Her main upgrade and function is to provide you with consistent and persistent evasion.
What used to hapepn is Rydia can only provide you with evasion through either putting 3 stacks of timeless dodge buff on all party members with her LD and or inflict 100% hit rate down on the enemies with her FR.
With BT, she now has an enemy-turn triggered attack "Tsunami" which also refreshes her Feyfroth (FR debuff, 5T) and Water Weakness debuff (6T). This effect is always activated as long as Rydia BT is still in effect and the enemies are taking turns. Therefore they will also have 100% hit rate down and not be able to hit you even if her LD stacks are gone.
Rydia + Faris:
Since Faris has a natural debuff count of 40T (8T x 5 debuff), she will need 10T more for Whirlpool+ to appear consistently. Rydia's debuff renewal have a total of 11T, so just by putting them with BT together will mean you will always satisfy the quota to trigger that crazy 12 dump off-turn attack. They are also of the same element and trigger off of enemy turns, so there are no conflicts but only synergies. The major drawback would be, they already take up 7 debuff slots.
Drawback (?)
In the past, you could still use Rydia with "tanks" that actually want to be hit if you want to. As long as the LD buff is not on the tank, you would be good to go. This can be a strat for bosses that can only be partly evade and have an intense amount of ST aggressive attacks. So you can still let the "tank" be hit as intended. It is rare that this is practiced, but it is an option none the less.
Now that with Rydia BT, the boss will always be inflicted with the hit rate down debuff. The tank would not be hit by those attacks that are intended to hit him/her anymore.
Rydia is now a much more specialised character than she ever has been and pairing her with enemy turn triggered effects and evasion characters would pay off well. At the same time, It also excludes this type of optional compatibility you used to be able to do. So choose your party member carefully.
