DFFOO [JP] Keiss/Kain/Irvine is a pretty fun range AOE cleave team
9Was thinking about putting together some other range BRV teams with Keiss. Then I remember Kain just got his FR not too long ago, so I tried to put them together in a team. Honestly I think it is pretty decent for fights that are not so ST focused.
Not using Cissnei here. For 1, I don't have Cissnei beyond LD. 2, this fight is Jesse LC and the bosses teleport to the front of the queue at certain HP thresholds. There are also three targets, so they tend to get a lot of turns as well. Kain naturally has a much bigger advantage here than Cissnei since he also operates during enemy turns and give you extra HP bonus %.
The follow-up from Keiss BT obviously counts as a range off-turn attack, so it does align with Kain's FR conditions. Keiss also offers launch assistance, which is another part of Kain's FR requirements. Unlike Cid Raines FR, there is no off-turn launch HP bonus contribution. This is strictly an on-turn fulfillment.
Since Kain usually goes up in the air, you would have to prepare the launches with his S2 on the other ally in advance. With 3 targets though, the duration of the buff is much less of an issue.
Comparatively speaking between Keiss/Kain FR (or even Irvine FR if you so choose), with the off-turn from Keiss, the natural HP bonus gain is roughly the same. When you factor in the boss turns on the other hand, Kain's FR has a significant advantage. Also, among these 3 FRs, both Kain and Irvine FR gives 50% HP dmg cap up as opposed to Keiss's 20%.
The stage comes with relatively high reductions, but with Irvine's BT and everyone being a range BRV unit, everything just automatically become capped BRV attacks. Irvine with U6 can practically FG charge to the end with 6 HP+ to spam in a BT phase if you choose to go into it. He is also the highest AOE dmg dealer and HP dmg cap support for the team. With the FR 50% cap from either him or Kain's FR, you can see everyone going beyond 300K and Kain even going up to 400K+, even with crappy UW levels.
Another good thing is while you can use Irvine and Kain's off-turn to AOE cleave all bosses, the off-turn launch from Keiss and active launches allow you to pick and choose a ST to push. You can see the domino effect of boss hitting different thresholds with a difference in time intervals while Kain's off-turn is going off near the end. Combining these tools and with a suitable stage, you can kill the boss without going into BT phase and end with quite a lot of FTs left.
Honestly I have had a lot of fun with Irvine and finding range units for him ever since his BT came out. Shame that I also missed characters like Cissnei and Amarant. There has been just too many of them coming out at the same time. Mechanically they synergise well, but realistically you just can't have them all.
Just one of those team concepts I want to share, nothing too dramatic or out of the ordinary.
