DFFOO [JP][Papalymo BT Raid][Alt run] A 120% Ignis has found some ingredients for today's recipeh
This was originally a run for Ignis carrying FR only Papalymo to victory, but since it is also a pretty good place to use Greg and test the use of a Papalymo friend like I envisioned when his details were out, I changed my mind to this set up instead.
Honestly even without some heavily specialised cap ups for Ignis such as Enna Kros + Ursula, Ignis is dishing out quite a lot of his determination to procure those cooking materials with just that cumulative 20% additional HP dmg from Papalymo + Weiss.
Sorry for the steam notification sound, I forgot to mute it again, but hopefully it is just a call for you to enjoy that meal by Ignis.
Weiss:
He is basically just there to do his off-turn preemptive strikes and provide 10% bonus dmg. The preemptive strike is quite peculiar in this stage, since it is embedded in the same turn as your main character, it does not interrupt your streak to end their HP heal shenanigans. Also since his attack is always AOE, it means both of the boss would always receive dmg and uptick the orb despite you using only a ST attack on the actual character. A very convenient trick to solve some of the targeting problems.
On top of that, a consistent 20% bonus dmg added to his preemptive strike adds up to a lot of dmg.
Note that his 10% bonus dmg only activates when your actual attack hits the cap HP dmg. When the boss has their threshold event up, they also significantly reduce BRV/HP dmg taken. So at those times, his effect may not be active.
Papalymo friend:
I thought 3T Papalymo friend would have been enough, but I forgot about his natural 2 starting turn mechanics. So it is best to stick to a 5T friend and set up for a BT - FR - FR at the end, so that he lays down the 10% bonus dmg debuff and spend all of his FR echoes. Then he would be immediately gone and let you resume what you have been doing with the replaced character. Feels quite effcient to me without needing to wait for him to go away. Ofc you can also let him stay for your chosen BT effects depending on whether fire or ice is chosen.
Gilgamesh aka Greg
Curiously I found another stage for him again. Gilgamesh has his no AD HP+ as long as he has not used King's Sword (OK's weapon) to manipulate turn order just before this current turn. Pretty much only this situation would break his 2T streak if you choose to use his HP+. You can use this to either salvage the orb counter, bait for more Weiss off-turn or clear the boss HP healing aura.
Again his BRV dmg up support comes in clutch for Ignis to cap his follow-up. There are other measures such as CA in place of ofc, but this greatly combats the reductions.
Both Ignis and Weiss are melee characters, so they are compatible for Gilgamesh's FR that has 50% cap up. They don't have stack buffs though, so I gave them one with Rydia LDCA.
Ignis:
Since this orb oddly does not punish FG charging, that is one way to go if you want to. You can also deliberately spam his no AD buffs just to let the boss use its FA while you have full BRV, such that they would not get 2T in a row by breaking you. That is somewhat reminiscent of what we did in Chaos/Lufenia era, BRV gaining yourself just to get by.
Ignis's follow-up only happens after his turns, so there is 0 risk in breaking the streaks. You can even use his buffs and let his follow-up do the talking to keep the streak or the orb alive, so characters like this are quite handy for this quest.
Too bad Weiss's U4 did not proc, so there was a slight imperfection of starting BT at 5 FT left. Needless to say though, Ignis got those meat effortlessly even though 2T was spent combating the healing effect.
Ignis carrying FR only Papalymo?
Basically the same run, but with no friend unit and some retention work at the end. It really does not differ by much.
With Weiss just standing there, you can spawn a lot of turns with Ignis and Papalymo, particularly the potato mage. If you have U4 on Papalymo, you can extend both the despair stack buff by 3T and gain free polyglots that way. Spend them on Foul for free stance changes. His longevity is quite insane. With Ignis healing and spawning turns, probably the only hazardous thing is if you leave Weiss be the only one in between boss turns and they cannot be broken. That is pretty much the only way they can wipe you. Enjoy the 505% HP bonus retention and casually kill them the way you want to.
