DFFOO [JP][Keiss BT Raid][Crystal Mission Run] Chaos has returned to destroy blue crystal mission
The glorious return of Jack G with his FR board and rework. As I thought about bringing him to a stage, I realised that I forgot about the additional crystal mission attached to this raid. So this is a great opportunity to see what he is capable of.
Just as a reminder, this is 1 out of 4 crystal mission specifically designated to events across July/Aug. You are required to use characters with the same crystal colour within a team, but you are allowed to use any friend unit with any crystal colour to complete the mission.
Since Jack G has to be present, that means the team would have to be a blue one. Aranea has already been used way too much in the previous one, so I turned to Weiss and Cor.
Weiss pair with Chaos rather nicely with the additional HP attacks. When you hit cap dmg (not counting the 999,999 hard cap ones as usual) while having the presence of -BRV, both of them will make all HP attacks deal additional dmg. It stacks up to quite a significant amount.
Cor is very good for Jack because he buffs mBRV with his Oath buff. Had Aerith not been present, Cor's Oath buff would have functioned as a safety net from being broken.
My blue crystal investment is still at undergrowth level. Jack does have an extra mBRV buff and mBRV stats from the crystal room, but it is still better to further provide him with mBRV buffs from things like Sazh CA, Brothers and such.
What's different about Jack G now?
Other than the typical 4 hit echo, Jack G also gives 60% instead of 50% HP bonus when someone is both broken and having -BRV. So even if you are not satisfying the "using melee command" condition, you still get a considerable amount of bonus and that is also why Aerith's echo is giving 140+%.
His FR also gives a 30% HP dmg cap up and a unique 30% BRV cap up for the entire party.
While his -BRV limit is unchanged, the extra BRV dmg cap does help him getting to the cap faster.
Most of his buffs are unchanged, and the scaling factors are still the same (i.e. 200% -BRV limit normally, and 600% when Chaosbringer is active). However, the biggest punch that exceed his normal HP dmg cap at the end of his follow-up is now a double hit, meaning for the most part he will be hitting x2 999,999 multiplied by the HP bonus factor.
His HP hits have been increased by a considerable margin and his S2 finally has a purpose of being his highest dmg move to a ST. Both LD and EX are now 6 hits, so it is more flexible when it comes to whether you want to gamble for the U4 procs and use his EX earlier than usual.
I would say his dmg is quite high now (I mean he has Cor/Weiss, but he is doing 92+m with a crappy UW and no Fujin or other crystal passive shenanigans). You still have to deal with the inconveniences like 6T BT, spending FR before BT, buffs and mBRV etc. so he is not really a brain dead DPS character, but I think he is pretty nice and fun though.
As time has progressed, the reliance on external mBRV would keep lowering because of the crystal room being filled up and UW being strengthened. If you are a blue crystal GS enthusiast or you are a die hard fan of Chaos, then he should have an even better performance than this.
Speaking of Chaos, where is my Garland FR?
