DFFOO [JP][Act 4 Chapter 3 part 2][ticket run] An eye for an eye, Astos for Ultima Weapon Origin
14Got Rosa FR from stray ticket, gave her FR board but no FE. It still worked well enough when I didn't rely on her FG charging skills. Astos just cleans house as expected.
Ultima Weapon Origin has a lot of threshold triggers and they still trigger even if you are in BT phase. Using Astos blow up the boss really quickly, so ticket run is really easy. If I have got the time between now and Jihl's event, I may come back to this and try another approach just for fun.
A little surprise incident happened at the end, but it was all good.
Boss:
- Immune to all forms of delay and turn deletion
Force:

0%: 20% mHP poison
60%: ATK/BRV dmg down (quite significant) and 50% BRV gain down

A. If you have 18 buffs: Final Ice Strike
Typical AOE BRV+HP attack, guaranteed hit and always trigger.
It hits really hard.
B. If you have less than 18 buffs when FA happens: Dark Glory
One target is guaranteed to die. All buff dispelled and goes through last stand.
Though Aerith BT can revive the character with its auto dispel, since it is not a buff.
FT: 10T
- Any HP attack from the boss automatically hits capped HP dmg
- Gets 0 action delay when using "Black Calamity"
Weakness: (cancels FT)
FA that deals range BRV dmg and grants a buff to the party
Threshold mechanics:
70/40/10%: Flare Star (+)
- deals BRV dmg and set all characters to 10% of current HP
- +ver happens when player has less than 12 buffs. Does the above and lowers max HP as well.
60/30%: the effect of lowering player max HP is removed
Notes:
UWO is not particularly a hard boss, but can destroy you really quickly if you are not careful.
UWO hits relatively hard and cannot be delayed, so you would need to watch out for his turns and see if you are unable to shave that BRV in time.
This gets harder as he lowers your ATK/BRV dmg after 60% FG. In this one I almost did not put any debuffs on UWO, and you can see me using Aerith's gravity follow-up to reduce its dmg when it was near 100% FG.
Since UWO just automatically caps HP dmg in FT, you don't want to entice it to use HP attacks. Keep its BRV and BRV dmg low so it is not tempted to try. Normally It just uses Black Calamity (which is only a BRV attack). If you are not cancelling its FR, getting it to repeatedly use this move should burn through the boss FT really quickly.
Another point to be addressed is the HP dmg requirement. The boss has a 20% HP poison and a gravity HP attack that always trigger even inside of BT phase, and there are 3 instances of flare star in total.
I did find out, however, that gravity HP attacks do not count as actual HP dmg. You can see my result card saying I only took 4.5K dmg at the end and that was due to Astos taking the 20% HP poison dmg. I thought I needed to use a Rem BT dispel to heal when victory is achieved, but that apparently wasn't even required.
As long as you have some form of HP regen (don't even need full 20% coverage) and don't get HP attacked, this requirement should not be a problem if you use a BT phase. Constant healing may actually get you in trouble, because there is actual HP loss due to repeated HP poison ticks. I would even say staying at a low HP (or even take the mHP down from boss aura) is a convenient strategy to combat the HP poison.
Other than that, it is mostly just DPS. It is a ST boss, so it does have a bit of HP. I did leave 1T of Aerith's gold debuff just in case I could not enter Astos BT in time and UWO decided to reward me with a HP attack to the face.
Regarding Rosa:
Rosa's utility does not change much. Her FR/BT revolves around granting and staying overhealed and she gives the entire party a lot more BRV now. Her BT follow-up basically makes her heal and battery the party every time she moves, but that's pretty much the additions and changes in this department.
She does get a huge DPS upgrade. Her transformed BRV attack is actually very desirable to use now (8 default ST HP hits with minor spread AOE dmg). If you combined the follow-up from her BT and Ursula BT, it should be a good tool to melt some ST boss faces.
Her FR shares some similarities with Ursula's. The values are pretty much the same but Rosa's wants 100% or above HP and buffs as opposed to Ursula's wanting 100% or above BRV. You can even use the same Aerith FR echo trick for 160%x2 bonus for a rocket boost. It is overall quite easy and desirable to use.
Overall I would not say her effects are really that special or unique. Though she definitely is a solid support and her DPS has received drastic improvements, particularly in regards to her BRV+ attack. I would say she can easily fit in a party and that is an enticing factor.
