8So it appears that my initial assumption was correct. PC shutdown was probably due to overheating when anything graphics intensive was involved. I redid the heat paste and PC is "seemingly" alive and well like a miracle for one and a half day now. At least I hope that would be the end of it.
This was pretty much the fitness test run for my PC. So it is also the "better late than never" upload for this stage I guess. This one has a few challenges but overall quite doable.
And yes, I already did the Lenna ticket challenge. I cleared it with Jihl first but then I realised I could have just "Astos"ed it. It was a bit of a drag, but also doable nonetheless.
Boss: Venom Floss - Malboro with eyes
Force:
+2%: Boss Action
+4%: Player Action
0%: ATK/BRV/HP dmg/BRV gain down
50%: "Applying debuffs" - Poison Gas
This debuff makes you lose BRV and have built in blindness for 2T
FA: Venom Cannon+
- BRV gain by consuming 100% of player's BRV, then HP attack
- inflict iBRV/mBRV down
(Always trigger)
FT: 20T
- 100% HP recovery after field turn
- action change:
(1) Corrupted Breath (AOE BRV), inflict ATK down
- upgrades to bad breath if there is a character with less than
100% HP
(2) Bad Breath (AOE BRV, guaranteed hit), remove 1 framed buff
Weakness: (cancels FT)
FA that deals BRV dmg and heals (outside of passives/spheres/buffs)
Thresholds:
- There are HP gates (89% - 69% - 29% - 0)
- Both bosses have the same mechanics apart from the 29% one.
- The boss on the right is A, left is B.
89%: "Preparing for a powerful attack" (HP gate to 69%)
69%: Really Bad Breath (HP gate to 29%)
- iBRV scaling AOE HP attack (gauranteed hit)
- pierce mitigation/nullification
- inflict "Poison Gas", ATK/DEF down
There is also a Spiritus praise at 69% that gives you 1T worth of HP regen.
29%: Photosynthesis - (removes HP gate)
- DEF/SPD up
- 130K BRV gain at the start of field turn
- BRV poison (100%) on player character at the start of field turn
- Aura change when field turn has passed
(Blue: 5T; Yellow: 10T; Red: 20T)
Allowing the boss to move after red aura = Death
* Boss A HP gate is not dropped until B is dead!!! Otherwise its behaviour is the same.
Other behaviour:
Boss would also like to repeatedly use a HP attack called puncture outside of aforementioned actions from the list above.
General Approach:
The HP gates, dmg and timing of your attacks are the challenges you must tackle in this one. There are roughly three directions you can go about taking these malboros down particularly if you don't have or plan on having Lenna FR/BT.
1. Counter/off-turn team
Counter/off-turn teams just thrive in the face of enemies with HP gates. Having multiple triggers and FRs that benefit from this also help boost FR% relatively fast.
These malboros have SPD up and their turns like to get tangled up together. You may be able to exploit this to your advantage.
Dorgann (V/Sword), Cor (XV) and Noctis (Black/XV/Sword) are great for this purpose.
2. Hyper focused ST dmg
The focal point is the 29% HP gate of A requiring B to die first. If you take too long and is unable to push the boss away, you would simply die.
One way to tackle this is to focus on taking B down first (or push A to 29% later to avoid wasted DPS). Lightning (Yellow/Sword), Leo (White), Astos (Black) are some that can get you through this way.
3. Clean 2 separated FRs with a FG charger
If 1 FR is just too much trouble or not feasible, conserve some of the echo uses and again focus on taking down B first (or at least close to). FG your way back to 100% and use a FR that can cancel their FT.
This may be a less concise, stressful way, but picking the right characters and FR is more vital to your success.
Not many FRs heal on hit and less are updated characters. I would say Braska is the closest to fulfilling this. He also happens to be one that can FG charge.
Other tips:
Obviously you must decide whether you want to 1 FR or 2 FR this. It determines whether a FG is required.
For the 69%:
If you have decided on using 1 FR, then 1 well-placed CA would be able to get you through the 50% FG blindness debuff, be it a cleanse or debuff evasion.
I used Lenna base CA and push the boss to 69% before it ran out, such that the one CA can cover the threshold attack as well.
The intent of this is to use Lenna's increased mHP to face tank the attacks. Both you can do it in other ways:
(1) Push one first then the other, and heal in between
(2) Ensure you have enough HP with other mHP increasing CAs/effects
(e.g. Hope/Rosa)
(3) Lower their iBRV (Lenna S1/Vincent CA)
(4) 0 BRV them with Iris BT
For 29%/boss FA:
The 29% effect gives the boss a 130K BRV gain every turn. The FA features the boss BRV gaining whatever the player characters have as a HP attack.
These can be shutdown via:
(1) Kadaj CA (0 BRV gain debuff)
(2) Iris (or Ashe) BT
