DFFOO [JP][Nov Medal Challenge] Holy gives you power over people's turns (Eiko FR/BT) ft. Sabin
Free FR/BT and LD on baby account, so this draw was incredibly lucky. Hell I got another BT when I tried to get Eiko EX.
Was quite looking forward to fiddling around the turn manipulation aspect of Eiko BT, and it did not disappoint at all. On the contrary, I think Eiko turned out even better than I anticipated.
I originally cleared with Fujin instead of Agrias and I thought about using Xezat (and Angeal) because .... well, elements and additional dmg. Though this stage features hefty BRV dmg reduction, even with Sabin's ignore defence, he cannot cap with his EX. So I changed my mind and showed this with Agrias as another support and tackled the orb at the same time instead of Fujin.
Boss:
Orb limit: 8
+2: Holy BRV dmg received
+1: BRV gain for all living party members within 1 action (summon excluded)
-2: Boss turns
Force:
0%: -90% player BRV dmg
FA: Jet Burst+ (magic AOE BRV+HP)
- will return to iBRV if they have less than iBRV before attacking
- ignore BRV/HP dmg mitigation or nullification
Healing threshold:
50/80%: dispelled when Holy attack is selected
General Approach:
Again the orb is quite tight, and yet another orb with BRV gaining others lol.
The braindead way is actually putting Fujin in there to tackle this orb again, hit wind weakness and have everyone become a BRV battery. Then have someone or a CA enchant Holy, use a non-elemental attack and ignore this orb completely. You can also use someone such as Rem, who also makes everyone a party battery with her BT.
A more indirect way is to use someone like Agrias. Her off-turn BRV gain others and since she is non-elemental, she just helps you fulfil all orb conditions anyways.
The FA ignores mitigation, but it is not dramatically lethal. You can facetank it or just use a Rydia CA/Raijin LDCA and ignore it completely for some time. Watching sleeping Eiko use Phoenix is always fun, so I just let myself get hit and show you how much more dmg she is doing now.
The most annoying about this fight is actually the 90% BRV dmg reduction. It is quite a big cut and if you are using someone that does not have a lot of crystal room development or not known for having sufficient BRV dmg/ATK (such as Fujin), you will run into problems. You can consider using rainbow BRV dmg enablers like Xezat, or use people with skills that has inherit BRV refund in between attacks. Well, Gilgamesh is always there too for big BRV dmg.
Regarding Eiko:
We already know from Ope Ope that she gets a +version to Double Holy+, and offer all party members to designate someone to take the next turn. So how does she work exactly?
Well as long as you are hitting the Holy Weakness, you will be given a choice as to who you want to give the turn to after an action:
- the choice can be anyone, including the on-turn character
- using CA also gives you the choice, again include the CA carrier
- the additional action as per tradition, has no AD and no turn count
- additoinal turn can spawn additional turn, as long as the Holy weakness requirement is met and Eiko BT is still active
- you get 20% extra HP dmg cap up and other aura benefits from Eiko BT during additional turns
In summary, you can move till eternity by just meeting the requirements while enjoying the additional aura buff at all times. You can create a free BT phase if you want to, though the buffs will go down as usual.
Double Holy+
Eiko's Double Holy is still mostly ST with splash, however, Double Holy+ has x14 100% AOE hits. It also extends all of her applied buff (including on others) by 1T. This would be her bread and butter button when she has BT on.
Double Holy+ also has an additional function of charging EVERYONE's EX. I think the amount is 50% (not FULL!), so she is like a more limited Rem in that regard.
Applications:
Well there is a variety of things you can exploit with her BT:
1. Lock someone's buffs
Summon Ifrit/Leviathan, put great but limited CAs on a character that you don't want to move, then just juggle the turns between the other two or keep it all to one. Agrias in this case was the one getting frozen in time.
2. Give time for people to charge their stacks
People like Rufus or Angeal who are quite notorious for needing time to charge their stacks (particularly after BT) can have a free phase of doing so. You can even their BT phase to charge then just keep all the turns to these characters as a pseudo BT phase and DPS.
3. LD/skill only "BT" phase
Some people has far strong LDs or skills rather than their usual BT rotation with 1 skill each only (like Yda). This way you can spam the same skill all you want.
4. Character combos
The most obvious one is someone with strong EX but cannot always get recharged immediately (like Angeal want EX to fill his stacks). So you can use EX, then check if you have U4 proc. If there isn't, you can defer to Eiko for a Double Holy+ EX refill.
Ngl, her BT is quite OP, silly and fun.
