Did Michael Bay Contradict His Own Rule in Transformers 2? So yesterday I made a video about why Michael Bay didn’t give characters such as Sideswipe his G1 colors. And how he was initially against using the color red due to it not translating well on film at the time. This is why other characters such as Ironhide were jet black. And why he ultimately opted to give Optimus flames with an orange hue as opposed to just coloring his torso and arms red. And how it wouldn’t be until Dark of the Moon that we would see an all red Autobot called Dino. But shortly after posting the video a commenter pointed out that Michael Bay could’ve possibly contradicted this rule. Because he would add in two characters named Demolisher & Rampage. Who both featured the color red and were introduced 2 years before Dino. And while it may seem like Bay was going back on his own rule. Its important to point out that these 2 characters were Decepticons. And they weren’t completely red like Dino. They had a secondary color pattern. Not to mention they weren’t shiny like the Autobots.
